Position Details:
- Lead and participate in cross-functional teams on production line shutdowns; document findings, provide reports and analysis
- Support all root-cause analysis on the floor, using techniques like DMAIC, 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto, to facilitate a culture where getting to root cause is the norm
- Ensure that corrective and preventive actions are defined, implemented and verified
- Lead and participate in complaint investigations, failure analysis of returned products
- Reduce internal failure rates by working with operations and engineering teams (rework and scrap performance evaluation)
- Analyze and improve quality performance utilizing statistical and analytical tools and methods
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to optimize documentation, processes, and systems related to quality and inspection checks
- Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) to review and disposition non-conformities
- Participate on design teams to assure customer product requirements, as well as quality requirements, are documented and addressed. Review design inputs (specifications) and design outputs (reports, drawings) to assure they are accurately translated into production/process specifications
- Represent Quality in product development teams and on projects to develop and execute plans (quality plan, risk management plan, FMEA, PFMEA) and requirements (safety, functionality, regulatory) to ensure requirements for quality are addressed prior to release
- Manage quality awareness and provide quality training to new hires and existing employees
- Review and maintain productV drawings, certifications, and specifications.
- Coordinate with suppliers and customers relating to quality and performance trends and initiate programs to enhance supplier performance and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with purchasing to assure all new suppliers are qualified and that new components and materials are adequately qualified
- Create test plans to understand product reliability and areas of weakness
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field
- 2-4 years’ experience in quality engineering or related field
- Immigration sponsorship not offered for this role
Physical Demands:
- Normal working conditions absent extreme factors
- Must be able to see well enough to read reports, send emails, etc.
- Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with customers and fellow employees
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs periodically
- Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Team player with positive attitude and desire to grow others
- Experience in developing inspection plans, reading specifications and modeled drawings
- Experience with quality tools (Pareto, Fishbone, 8D, etc.)
- Working knowledge of test equipment (calipers, micrometers, optical comparator, hardness testing, surface measurement)
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Solid knowledge of statistics (control charting, SPC, Cpk, Cp)
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/Kaizen/Six Sigma
- Knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks)
- Auditor and Quality Engineer certification
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS
- Working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE)
