Job description
This position has general responsibility for the quality process for the glass factory. Quality Manager must work closely with daily operations assisting quality verification throughout various department including final step verification before shipments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization
- Develop, implement, communicate, and maintain a quality plan to bring the Company’s Quality Systems and Policies into compliance with quality system requirements
- Effectively interact with Production and Development teams to maintain product supply and help introduce new products
- Work with procurement staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers
- Responsible for maintaining and auditing ASTM compliance along with the Representative audits
- Create standards and establish clearly defined quality methods for staff to apply
- Define quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff
- Set up and maintain controls and documentation procedures similar to an ISO format
- Liaison with customers and ensure the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers’ specifications
- Establish standards of service for customers or clients
- Monitor performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports
- Use 5S, Six Sigma and Lean principles to aid in problem solving and continuous improvement
- Perform quality measurements (audits) by work center on a daily basis to ensure the compliance with established specifications
- Responsible for documenting Non-Conformance Reports and following non-conformances through to closure; this includes appropriate reporting for defects, customers, etc. to ensure that the appropriate preventive actions are implemented.
- Identify relevant quality-related training needs and deliver training
- Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated, and that product modifications are investigated if necessary
- Bring together staff different disciplines and drive the group to plan, formulate and agree on comprehensive quality procedures
- Manage and maintain the Company’s quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes, and finished goods
- Set QA compliance objectives and ensure that targets are achieved
Competencies:
Required
- College degree or equivalent operations experience in manufacturing environments
- Minimum of 3 years in related experience
- Strong organizational skills to manage, prioritize, schedule, and balance multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to identify and resolve problems effectively, strong analysis and decision-making skills.
- Ability to initiate and effectively implement change
- Must have data analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manipulate large data sets.
- Strong communication skills, strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
- Experience developing and interpreting customer specifications
- Ability to work well without close supervision and the ability to make sound, high impact decisions.
- Must be a self-starter, and have ability to learn new information/processes
Qualifications:

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of industry quality practices including Lean principles. The Quality Manager must be proficient in Microsoft programs including excel.

Responsibilities include managing a team, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near power hand tools. The employee is occasionally exposed to humid conditions (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee, is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb. The employee may lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
