Position Summary:
To actively support and uphold the Association’s stated mission and values while developing, promoting, and coordinating a comprehensive tennis and pickleball program for the Upper Main Line YMCA racquet sports facility.
Essential Functions:
1) Provide instruction for beginners through advanced to enhance UMLY members experience
and participation
2) Ensure tennis and pickleball programs are in place at the facility to service the entire scope of members and playing abilities (juniors, adults, seniors).
3) Organize a variety of special events at the facility to retain and attract interest for the sport.
4) Provide input to the Senior Director of Racquet Sports for programming and funding necessary for operations with sufficient notice prior to yearly budget development.
5) Provide educational opportunities for all members so they can understand and enjoy the play of tennis and pickleball.
6) Provide timely marketing information and materials regarding tennis and pickleball programs for the monthly racquet sports newsletter. Prepare program event and facility marketing materials including news releases, flyers, pamphlets and brochures.
7) Attend other Association events to promote tennis and pickleball programs and get more members involved in the playing of tennis.
8) Supervise, facilitate and oversee scheduled tennis events, instructional classes and programs; oversee the issuance and collection of recreational equipment for an event, class or program; ensure adequate staffing for the event, class, or program.
9) Facilitate and manage all racquet sports office duties including member greeting and entry scanning, academy program registration, drop-in class registration, private lesson sales, court rentals for members, and court contracts within Active Net.
10) Private lesson booking within Active Net (similar to private lessons) when lessons are provided to recognize the revenue.
11) Manage and supervise the racquet sports desk staff to ensure all desk functions are followed
12) Manage the court scheduler to ensure it is up to date within Active Net for member and staff usage
13) Ensure member court reservations and schedules are adhered to by monitoring usage on each particular court.
14) Responsible for tracking of court allocations and usage to communicate with director and tennis pros through reports to show where court usage can be maximized
15) Assist with tournament event management
16) Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
17) Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience required
- At least ten years of tennis professional instruction experience.
- USPTR or USPTA certified.
- Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising
- Preferred knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations required
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations
- Must be fluent in spoken and written English
- Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
