Responsibilities and Duties
- Model the Athlos culture by exemplifying the 3 Pillars: Prepared Mind, Healthy Body, and Performance Character (e.g. demonstrating 12 character traits, exemplifying a growth mindset, modeling a healthy lifestyle)
- Implement an approach to coaching and learning that is collaborative, student-centered, and data-driven
- Support all teachers in a collaborative model of observation, conversation, and lesson demonstration
- Support grade-level teams to support implementation of Performance Character strategies, many of which connect to social-emotional learning
- Support and model effective and differentiated student-centered instruction
- Provide individualized, classroom-based coaching, and support the implementation of good instructional practices
- Facilitate professional collaborative groups to review effective practices and analyze student data
- Facilitate grade-level PLCs to discuss implementation of effective content, skills, and problem-solving instruction
- Provide comprehensive and balanced training across content areas and grade levels
- Participate in professional development for instructional coaches, including peer observations, professional research, and inquiry sessions
- Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum, and assessments
- Work collaboratively with other instructional coaches, curriculum specialists, and district
- Other duties as assigned
Educational Background
- Education: Bachelors degree plus 5 years educational experience OR masters in education
- Experience Required: 5 years of educational experience required (required if only bachelors) including a proven leadership record; demonstrated experience in using research-based instructional practices and excellence with management in an active classroom.
- Certification Required: Valid teacher certification required
