Department Overview
The Retail Department is the public-facing and customer-engaging branch of Rolling Embers. As such, it serves as a gateway to maintain connection with the Rolling Embers customers in the community. The Retail Department and its staff showcase and sell a wide range of products, accessories and other brand merchandise. This team prioritizes exceptional service to all patrons and the promotion and representation of the Rolling Embers brand.
Position Summary
Rolling Embers is seeking an energetic and welcoming Receptionist. The ideal candidate for this entry level position would possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task and have a general interest in the cannabis industry. The Receptionist will report to the Assistant Store Manager and will be responsible for various duties, including greeting visitors, checking ID’s, answering incoming phone calls, data entry, and being a crucial player in developing and maintaining our customer relationships.
As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for the company, and you will provide administrative support across the organization. You will handle the flow of people through the store and consumption lounge and ensure that all receptionist responsibilities are completed accurately and delivered promptly, with high quality.

In addition, the Receptionist is expected to:
- Welcome guests and customers into the store with a positive, upbeat and friendly demeanor

- Verify customers legal age requirement
- Registering new customer in the CRM system and scanning in returning customers
- Answer, screen and forward any incoming phone calls while presenting essential information when needed
- Monitor customer flow into and out of the store and consumption lounge
- Receive and sort daily mail/deliveries/couriers
- Maintain security by following procedures and controlling access (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges)
- Complete other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, collating, faxing etc.
- Promoting the Rolling Embers brand and getting customers excited about shopping at our location
- Assisting with curbside and online orders when needed
- Provide customers with information regarding products, store hours and location, daily specials, website address, and more
- Creating personable and memorable experiences for all store patrons
- Always maintaining Tribal & CRA compliance
- Performing opening, mid-day, and closing tasks, as well as general upkeep of the reception area
- Supporting store management in an administrative capacity, as required
- Ability to operate a computer, POS system and other office equipment
- Will require working varied hours/day, including nights weekends, holidays, and/or events on occasion
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is friendly, tech savvy, organized, great at multi-tasking and can handle a busy/rapid setting.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years post-secondary education in a related field preferred
Work Experience Required
- 2+ years’ experience in a fast-paced client-service intensive industry – hospitality and retail backgrounds preferred
- Work history showing progressive responsibility, willingness to accept, lead, and complete additional projects or challenges
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Required Knowledge
- Experience in a front office, preferably handling receptionist responsibilities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Computer & equipment operations necessary for running an office/retail center (POS systems; Word; Excel; office equipment such as copiers/telephone systems)
- Thorough understanding of Tribal law governing cannabis
- Arithmetic necessary for basic inventory and cash management
- Familiarity with history and varieties of cannabis and cannabis products preferred, but not required

- Outstanding phone and in-person customer service skills

- Must be 21 years of age
Physical Requirements
- Extended time standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for the distance of 100 feet
- This position requires occasional extended and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers to manipulate objects
- Must pass a drug test and background check (Tribe mandated)
- Reliable transportation
