POSITION SUMMARY: The Recovery Support Specialist - Operation Over Opioids -Full-Time will be responsible for providing recovery support to individuals and families who have been diagnosed with Alcohol Use Disorder, Substance Use Disorder, Opioid Use Disorder, and/or Co-Occurring Disorder(s). This is a grant project funded through SAMHSA and the Project Director will be responsible for strict adherence to all federal funding requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide care, support, and guidance to individuals and families recovering from, and who have been affected by, Alcohol Use Disorder, Substance Use Disorder, Opioid Use Disorder, and/or Co-Occurring Disorder(s).
- Perform a number of client related responsibilities to include conducting assessments, leading group sessions, talking circles, recovery support groups, and facilitating interventions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of pro-social and family engagement activities.
- Guide and assist program participants in developing life skills.
- Transport participants and families to scheduled activities, appointments, etc.
- Serve as an advocate for program participants within the community.
- Maintain a calm, non-defensive, supportive, attitude towards all participants and staff.
- Meet emergency and crisis demands and a calm, competent, and timely manner.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor for participants, staff, and community members.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
- Will be required to work collaboratively with all other Prevention & Recovery programs and staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
REPORTS TO: The Recovery Support Specialist - Operation Over Opioids will report to the Grants Activities Supervisor. This position does not hold supervisory authority.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Vision and hearing in the normal range, with or without correction.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Majority of the work will be performed in the Residential Treatment Center office setting with occasional outreach activities and community events. This facility requires coverage 24-hours, 7-days per week. Hours worked may include evenings, holidays, weekends, and overtime. Hours may vary based on facility needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years if age.
- High School Diploma or equivalency required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs and standard office environment.
- Must display quality writing ability and communication skills.
- Experience working with Indian Tribes or organizations preferred.
- Experience/knowledge of 12-step and similar recovery programming.
- Will be required to obtain First Aid and CPR training (employer will provide training).
- Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver's License and be insurable under the Comanche Nation's Motor Vehicle policy.
- Must be willing to submit to and pass drug testing; employment will be contingent upon successful completion.
- Must be willing to submit to a background check.
