Dauphin County Solid Waste Management & Recycling is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Recycling Maintenance Worker. The individual in this position is responsible for the collection of recyclable materials at all county-owned facilities and cleanup at the County's nine voluntary recycling drop-off centers. The employee in this position is responsible for but not limited to performing the following essential functions: collects recyclable materials from all county-owned facilities; deliver to processor; cleans up at recycling drop off centers ensuring they are clean and free of litter at all times; cleans up outside area and parking lot (free of cigarettes and debris); shovels, snow blows and de-ices facility grounds/sidewalks during appropriate months at recycling drop off centers and recycling center; orders and stocks supplies in a timely manner through the Operations Manager; assists co-workers and Director as necessary; and performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program.
  • General or light maintenance experience preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Keeps tools and equipment clean and operational.
  • Works overtime occasionally due to department related activities.
  • Operates common hand tools such as brooms, mops, squeegees, litter pickers, brushes, rakes, shovels, ladders, step stools, vacuum cleaners, hammers, hedge clippers etc.
  • Operates lightweight equipment such as snow blower, weed whacker, lawn mower, etc.
  • Operates motor vehicle to get to recycling centers and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned by the Department Director or Recycling Supervisor.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.
