Job Description


The Regional HR Generalist will support the Gulf Coast Region of Summit Electric Supply based in our Houston, TX office. The role of the Regional HR Generalist will be to act as a business partner to the Regional Vice President in the region and support employee relations, talent acquisition, talent development, management coaching and support for the facilities within the region. This role will play an important part in growing the Summit culture and identified internal and external talent to support the growth within the region.


Qualifications


Essential Job Functions:

  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs
  • Ability to professionally interact & influence others at all levels of the organization.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
  • Conducts on-site/virtual new hire orientation and ensure all hire documentation is completed in timely manner
  • Continually engages with leaders and/or employees within the facility on-site to assist in the administration and support of the following initiatives: Performance management processes Talent development and succession planning Communication of human resources related material Documentation & understanding of ongoing recruitment needs Annual employee engagement survey administration, feedback and reporting Reasonable accommodation process Support Leave of absence administration Job evaluations and job profile administration Employee relations inquiries/investigations
  • Engages in the local candidate pipeline by implementing effective local sourcing strategies
  • Develop and maintain effective relations with the centralized Shared Service Team and recruitment channel partners delivering the recruitment services as appropriate
  • Collaborate with other regions to share knowledge and lessons learned. Provide back-up recruiting services as needed.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of human resources job related experience (Employee Relations, Recruiting, Generalist, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good human relations and effective communications skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside of the organization
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is required
  • Experience providing HR Support/Consulting to management in the areas of performance management, talent management and progressive discipline

Beneficial Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a distribution or electrical supply environment
  • SHRM or HRCI certification highly desired
  • Previous recruiting/talent acquisition experience a plus
  • HR Management systems experience (UKG, Talent Acquisition Management system, etc)

Physical Challenges:

  • Must have ability to lift 5+ lbs. on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Additional challenges may arise, at which time; Summit may revise this job description.
  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations and turnover

  • Follow all written policies and procedures safely without deviation or refer to upper management for guidance

  • Demonstrate consistency, accountability, reliability, and solid work ethic
