Position Summary:
We are now hiring a Registered Nurse. Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to support the clinic’s goals of providing each patient with a positive experience while receiving quality comprehensive eye care from the providers. The Register Nurse will perform nursing care for the patient in the immediate post-operative/post-anesthesia period, assessing and documenting the patient’s status upon arrival in the recovery room. The RN provides nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered, monitoring patient, and informing the surgeon or anesthetist of observed complications.
Responsibilities:
  • Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel for management of the recovery room
  • Organizes nursing activities efficiently, considering staff abilities when delegating activities
  • Uses equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate care
  • Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice
  • Assists in managing inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the postoperative area
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of post-operative area
  • Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate post-operative/post-anesthesia period
  • Assesses and documents the patient’s physical and emotional status upon arrival in the recovery room
  • Documents post-anesthesia care and identity of second person in the recovery room during the patient’s recovery from anesthesia/sedation according to approved policies and procedures
  • Provides nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered
  • Monitors patients and informs surgeon or anesthetist of observed complications
  • Performs thorough post-operative patient assessment prior to discharge of the patient
  • Assists in assessing the physical and emotional status of the patient in preparation for discharge
  • Develops a plan of care for the patient based on the assessment data
  • Reviews post-operative instructions and prescriptions from the surgeon with patient and significant other and documents in the patient’s medical record
  • Informs patient and family about appropriate care and procedure to follow upon returning home
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or GED certificate recipient
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • Active RN license in the state where work will be conducted.
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Ability to make sound nursing judgment based on nursing theory.
  • Demonstrates primary nurse accountability through coordination, communication, and continuity of patient care.
  • Must be able to assess, prioritize, plan, and implement direct patient care.
  • Assumes responsibility for competency of practice and takes initiative for professional development and continuing education.
  • Working knowledge and experience in hospital or ambulatory surgery center including direct patient care.
  • Ability to adhere to work schedule and manage time appropriately.
  • Ability to utilize resources in a timely, organized, and cost-effective manner.
  • Knowledge of patient monitoring equipment.
