Responsibilities
The Respiratory Therapy Clinical Specialist assumes responsibility for workload assignments, human resource allocation, and overall direction of the routine provision of respiratory care during his/her assigned shift, including the routine provision of Respoiratory Care procedures and diagnostics, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, advanced airway managment and related diagnostics. Works as a resource person for the nursing staff within the guidelines of departmental and hospital policies and procedures Actively participates in the screening of applicants, making recommendations for new employees. Actively participates in disciplinary tracking of employees under his/her charge. Reviews scheduled staffing for on-coming shift adjusting staffing levels as indicated by work volume and patient acuty. Participates in the orientation and probationary evaluatioon of new staff, including, competency review and remediation. Participates in the annual performance review process for staff under their direction. Communicates immediately with the Manager of Respiratory Care all issues of concern relating to staffing, staf and/or administrative designee and physician issues. Answers directly to and communicates wiwth the House Supervisor or administrative designee after hours, including weekends, holidays and night shifts. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Saint Bernardine Medical Center. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support Saint Bernardine Medical Center strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality improvement, process, and activities

Qualifications
- Minimum of one- year experience in a Lead or supervisory role is required
- Graduate of accredited Respiratory Therapy program is required
- Current RCP in the State of California and RRT is required
- Two (2) years of acute care experience, including critical care and Neonatal intensive care is preferred
