We have an exciting opportunity open for an RNG Operations Technician based in Clinton, ME.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibilities of the RNG Operations Technician consist of a full range of duties associated with the operations and maintenance of the facilities (Clinton and surrounding farms)

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Oversight of work performed by third-party vendors
  • Safely operating company vehicles
  • Perform site and environmental walk arounds daily
  • To skillfully perform the above listed duties a Technician I must:
    • Use and care for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) including SCBA (respirator) use under emergency situations
    • Achieve Operations Qualification (OQ) certification to company standards, passing required written tests and field evaluations
    • Maintain OQ certifications (continuing education) to company standards

  • Conduct day-to-day operations and maintenance of the plant, which will involve working with mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Maintenance of digesters (mixers, pumps, etc.), compressors, gas purification systems and pipelines
  • Must understand ANSI pressure classes
  • Diagnosing and correcting adverse digester and plant conditions and malfunctions
  • Respond to alarm conditions, troubleshoot and repair systems to restore operational capacity
  • Adhere to company and project specific health and safety requirements, participate in monthly safety audits and inspections
  • Maintain administrative records including logbook, filing system for drawings, instruction books and manuals, spare parts inventory and records
  • Support, assist and direct the work of contractors on-site
  • Routinely operate a motor vehicle and/or off-road vehicle on undeveloped terrain
  • Will periodically travel to other Summit RNG facilities as needed
  • Be willing, able, and qualified to serve on the On-call assignment rotation as soon as possible following hire date
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork –Compliance Forms and Documents
  • Estimate time, materials and equipment required for assigned jobs; maintain records of work performed and parts used; keep accurate records of any monetary transactions involving the company credit card or customer transactions
  • Perform general clean up at job sites and observe and implement proper safety practices
  • Follow good health and safety principles and practices, and maintain a business-like appearance including wearing company provided clothing is essential to providing the proper company image
  • Must become familiar with the O&M Manual for the facility, and all lock-out/tag out procedures
  • Ability to analyze problems, develop solutions and recommend sound alternatives
  • Ability to work overtime including call outs outside of normal business hours, weekends and holidays
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Office applications
  • A technical degree in an electrical or mechanical field is preferable, or equivalent work experience with electrical and mechanical systems
  • Familiar with gas compression and/or gas transportation
  • Conduct day-to-day operations and maintenance of the plant, which will involve working with mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Maintenance of digesters (mixers, pumps, etc.), compressors, gas purification systems and pipelines Diagnosing and correcting adverse digester and plant conditions and malfunctions
  • Respond to alarm conditions, troubleshoot and repair systems to restore operational capacity
  • Adhere to company and project specific health and safety requirements, participate in monthly safety audits and inspections
  • Maintain administrative records including logbook, filing system for drawings, instruction books and manuals, spare parts inventory and records
  • Support, assist and direct the work of contractors on-site
  • Routinely operate a motor vehicle and/or off-road vehicle on undeveloped terrain
  • Will periodically travel to other dairy farms in the area as needed
  • Recognize an AOC at Company Facilities and make corrections and/or contact the District Manager or senior technician for further instruction
  • Other important duties include:
    • Ensure that the district’s shop is maintained to the highest standard
    • Provide continuous care of district Company vehicles
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the District Manager or other Senior Technicians

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • High School or GED preferred
  • Mechanically inclined and have experience with pumps, mixers, and piping
  • Necessary Operator Qualifications (OQ’s) to perform DOT pipeline covered tasks on a natural gas operating system are required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Strong demonstrated mechanical aptitude required
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and instrument control systems including equipment such as motors, blowers, controls and pumps
  • Effective interpersonal skills needed to ensure excellent customer service
  • Strong time management practices required to multi-task several projects
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required for dealing with internal departments, customers, vendors and completing all required paperwork
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic
  • Desire to show initiative to pursue opportunities to support whatever is needed to ensure the successful achievement of the district office’s goals
  • Willingness to work with others to achieve departmental goals
  • Must know and understand the importance of learning and practicing safety principles
