Safety Coordinator

We are a family-owned private trucking company seeking an individual who is interested in commercial motor vehicle transportation safety and regulatory compliance and has great attention to detail.

Job Description:

  • Gain and utilize knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance along with an organized approach to tasks to help reinforce safety standards and processes
  • Provide continuing education and training for new and current employees including department of transportation (DOT) and state regulations, DOT hours of service, company policies and procedures
  • Conduct driver log reviews (DOT hours of service) with drivers to ensure compliance and fully document all counseling and training received
  • Ensure that all necessary systems are updated with new information
  • Scan and index working documents into appropriate systems
  • File required paperwork and keep filing systems organized
  • Follow through with all required processes for roadside DOT inspections
  • Coordinate with operations in support of safety goals and deadlines
  • Assist with the weigh station and toll device program assignments and tracking
  • Be able to relay information about reported issues and assist in troubleshooting problems
  • Process employment verifications per DOT standards
  • Assist in administrative functions and daily monitoring of violation and electronic log edits, speed gauge, etc.
  • Support operational staff in the use of electronic logs
  • Assist the safety team in the upkeep and periodic review of driver DOT and accident files.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment
  • Able to prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Must be able to maintain focus on primary objectives while handling various side tasks
  • 1-2 years of transportation experience working with safety and regulatory compliance preferred
