Tanaq Support Services (TSS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. About the Role
We are seeking a Scientific Technical Writer / Editor I to support the CSELS Division of Laboratory Systems CDC Biorepository (CBR) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This role will provide expert scientific technical writer/editor services to support the CBR’s mission to provide high-quality, centralized biorepository services that are fundamental to public health, surveillance, research, and outbreak response.
Place of Performance: CDC office in Atlanta, GA. This position will be mostly onsite (3-4 times a week) but will allow for limited telework.
Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and cross-reference CBR policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensure that writing is clear, concise, and grammatically correct.
  • Ensure that documents are consistent with language, definitions, and format.
  • Analyze procedures to ensure they are clear, concise, and match the tasks as they are performed.
  • Review materials for accurate terminology.
  • Ensure related documents are referenced correctly.
  • Develop process documents to tie in related procedures.

Requirements: Required Experience and Skills

  • Previous experience with CDC programs, policies, procedures, and communication activities is highly desired.
  • Must have Plain Language Writing experience.
  • Expert in scientific writing, editing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to efficiently organize multiple priorities independently and yet maintain the flexibility to respond to additional requests.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to obtain government clearance.

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, English, or related field with 4 years of experience writing and editing both electronic and print publications.
  • Master's degree in Public Health, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, English, or related field with minimum 1 year of experience supporting communication and marketing strategies highly desired. English (writing/editing) with strong evidence of clinical or public health focus may be considered.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift 25 pounds regularly.
