POSITION OVERVIEW
The Assistant Waterfront Manager is responsible for the overall operations and processes of the waterfront rentals program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Rentals:
- Responsible for the overall operations and sales of the waterfront rental program
- Properly take deposits and reservations for rentals via the phone, in person, through CounterPoint and Google Docs
- Assist rental customers in completing the rental contract
- Obtain proper payment for rental sales
- Demonstrate the proper use of all rental equipment and boats
- Responsible for showing rental customers the rental boats, the map of the lake, safety requirements, etc. prior to allowing the rental customer to leave the dock
- Ability to check-in boats as they are returned and immediately report any damages or missing items to the Rentals and Waterfront Manager
- Assist in the advertising and promotion for the waterfront rental program through attending events, posting advertising, word of mouth, etc.
- Interface with customers, vendors, and other business units
- Assist in the creation of SOP’s, procedures, and policies for the waterfront rental program
- Recommend needs for boats, maintenance, gear, and other rental necessities
- Actively communicate maintenance and upkeep needs for all rental boats with the Rentals and Waterfront Manager
- Develop a business that customers want to visit
Personnel:
- Ability to properly train all waterfront rental employees on all rental operations
- Communicate all personnel issues, needs, etc. to the Rentals and Waterfront Manager
- Make staffing recommendations for the waterfront rentals program
- Uphold all laws, standards, and regulations that apply to the business
- Maintain a safe work environment through training, audits, and continuous improvements
- Any other tasks as requested by supervisor
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Communication: Ability to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and company personnel; ability to communicate information clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Customer Service: Ability to serve our customers respectfully and efficiently; understand that the customer is our number one priority and serving them is what makes us successful
- Training: Ability to clearly document company procedures and policies and train staff and employees on these company procedures and policies
- Trailering: Ability to safely and effectively trailer boats among different locations; ability to properly launch boats at various lakes and marinas
- Travel: Ability to travel to local lakes and marinas and assist/train customers on proper rental boat use
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education/Experience: Minimum of 2-years of waterfront experience required; minimum of 1-year management experience preferred
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office experience required; experience with CounterPoint required
- Boater’s License: Maintain a valid boater’s license required
- Communication: Ability to interact professionally with colleagues, clients, and company personnel; ability to communicate information clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Customer Service: Ability to serve our customers respectfully and efficiently. Understand that the customer is our number one priority and serving them is what makes us successful
- Training: Ability to clearly document company procedures and policies and train staff and employees on these company procedures and policies
- Travel: Ability to travel to WLVM as needed
- Flexibility: Ability to work the number of hours the position requires; ability to work the entire summer season and into the fall if necessary
- Characteristics: Possess humility, a willingness to serve, and the ability to teach. Clearly convey a passion for the business, the customers, and the team members
- Humility: Ability to honestly and openly communicate any mistakes or mishaps made and learn from them

- Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is quiet to medium loud. Work is done in an office, on a boat, on the dock, or in a retail space.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, regularly required to stand and walk. Employee regularly uses hands and fingers to touch, feel, and handle. Employee regularly stoops, kneels, bends at the waist, and reaches. Employee is frequently required to speak and hear. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
