Notes to Applicants
This position will support in Operating the 24/7 physical access control and surveillance system and provide mobile patrols to support secured operations of the utility.

- Follow site policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Task may include responding and investigating disturbance on-site and remote properties located throughout the city of Austin.
- Conducting inspections of properties 24/7 for employee safety, crime prevention of property loss.
- Respond to after-hour issues relating to maintenance and access.
- Facilitate police and emergency response at AE sites.
- Patrol electric utility sub-stations, critical infrastructure, unmanned facilities, construction lay down yards and other sites as needed.
- Meet and provide access to law enforcement agencies to secured and/or energized areas as needed.
- Work outside scheduled hours to ensure consistent coverage, attend training/meetings and other activities as needed to meet utility and business unit needs.
Driving Requirement
This position requires a Valid Texas Class “C” Driver LIcense or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicatns cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Derive Record Evaluation points within a period of Thirty – Six (36) months.
Pay Range
$20.00 – $22.00

Days: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Wednesday and Thursday off (but may change from time to time to time as needed)

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a 24/7 Security Operation Center
- Experience using Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Work independently and make sound decisions.
- Experience with Physical Access Control Systems, specifically with Picture Perfect, Facility Commander and OnGuard or comparable.
- Conduct 8 hour shifts of Vehicle Patrols of electrical substations, critical infrastructure and other utility related facilities that are in rural areas, during bad weather and have uneven terrain.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Picks up stolen property and handle loss and found items.
- Operates, repairs, and maintains equipment/reports maintenance problems.
- Provides delivery/courier services
- Conducts safety inspection of ,facilities, i.e., fire extinguishers, life/safety equipment, etc.
- Performs situation assessments and investigate work incidents
- Identifies, assists, and gives clearance to entering patrons
- Provides security and assistance to the public and various law enforcement agencies
- Issues parking citations
- Administers first aid
- Provides training
- Conducts security patrols at locations, parking lots/garages, and surrounding areas for unsafe conditions and reports them as necessary.
- Responds to fire alarms, security alarms, and accidents – contacts appropriate emergency personnel.
- Investigates disturbances and in the event of an emergency, maintains order and safety of occupants.
- Provides customer service and acts as a source of information and assistance to inform the public of information regarding Library services, programming, policy and regulations.
- Anticipates, de-escalates, and solves problems and/or provides reports to appropriate agency.
- Monitors welfare of security personnel working after-hours, overnight, and at remote assignments.
- Provides direction and training to security personnel, contract employees, and other City departments regarding Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and other training areas.
- Issues and enforces Criminal Trespass Notices for violations and determines if police assistance is needed.
- Completes and maintains incident reports and other routine documentation.
- Directs traffic and provides crowd control and security services for after-hours events held by internal and external customers.
- Transports and safeguards cash pick up and drop offs at all locations.
