Job description
Job Summary: Under general supervision, reviews construction documents, develops/implements standards for buildings/projects which meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related building and accessibility codes. Serves as an expert consultant evaluating compliance with accessibility standards for new construction and alterations, barrier removal, and program state and federal accessibility obligations; provides highly technical and professional architectural assistance by conducting onsite surveys and reviews of buildings and facilities, by conducting critical reviews of architectural plans, specifications, and photographic evidence of accessibility; assists in developing technical assistance materials and guidance; and provides expert advice and guidance to top management, other architects within the agency, and other state and local governments, private firms, and individuals. The incumbent also performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Completion of an undergraduate degree in architecture from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of related experience in architectural design, document review, building codes and construction administration, with two (2) or more years of experience focused primarily on the application of “accessibility compliance” and the principles of “universal design”.
· Demonstrated experience, proven ability and commitment for public service and mastery of both theoretical and practical ADA architectural principles, methods and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of building and facilities.
· Must have an active registration in Architecture in the State of Georgia
· Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel statewide.

Knowledge of building construction documents and Federal and State accessibility-related codes and standards.
Travel: Is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. Travel time will vary up to 30 % or more based on the need.
