The Senior Associate/Associate Director for Executive Communications supports the University’s overall communication efforts. Specifically responsible for creating and executing key leadership and institutional communications, and coordinating the dissemination of those communications across multiple platforms to maximize exposure, advance Bryant’s strategic initiatives, and elevate the University’s profile, reputation, and visibility among the University community.

Title and salary commensurate with experience and preparation.
Principal Accountabilities
  • In collaboration with the CMCO, build University-wide intra-communications strategy that addresses key audience (students, parents, faculty, staff, governance, alumni, etc.) communication needs, messaging, delivery, and cadence.
  • Develop deep collaborations with key campus partners. Craft and deliver communications strategy and offer high-level counsel to empower campus partners to execute strong internal communications inclusive of solid audience-specific messaging, delivery, cadence.
  • Assemble and lead an internal communications council comprised of cross-functional leaders to implement meaningful engagement opportunities and exchanges among campus stakeholders. Facilitate communications between campus partners and various University constituent groups that offer a regular forum for communications policy discussion and training opportunities.
  • Message and craft “top-level” intra-communications for review by the CMCO to support the University and presidential initiatives and priorities including strategic planning, diversity, equity and inclusion, and crisis communications.
  • Research and write strategic and impactful letters, speeches, op-eds, talking points, video scripts, and other materials on behalf of Bryant leadership.
  • Create and/or compile compelling presentations, collateral materials, and multimedia to support institutional and executive messaging.
  • Collaborate with the Faculty Fellow and Executive Director for Institutional Effectiveness and Strategy, and CMCO to manage the President’s participation in, and preparation for, large-scale speaking engagements, events, panel discussions, conferences, and media opportunities.
  • Lead and guide content development and creation for the President’s Office’s web pages and social media accounts.
  • Develop thoughtful and nuanced crisis communication strategies and messages for a wide-range of University stakeholders in collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Partner with members of University Marketing and Communications (UMC) to inform and support earned media opportunities involving University leadership and identify and pursue thought leadership opportunities/engagements for the President and senior leadership.
  • Foster positive relationships with a diverse group of colleagues and serve as a liaison with key departments and partners across the University including advancement, alumni, events management, and governance teams.
  • Supervise freelancers and other outside consultants producing content for the President as needed.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing or communications
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in marketing, corporate communications or public affairs.
  • Must have superb written and oral communication skills as well as excellent organization and project management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic goals and tactical requirements.
  • Must be comfortable dealing with all levels of management, staff, and faculty.
  • Must have strong computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with frequent deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be proactive, highly organized, have a strong work ethic, and be able to work well with partners and stakeholders at all levels of the University.
  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix organization. Must be comfortable managing and influencing without management oversight.
  • Ability to research and fact check information for all communications vehicles.
  • Strong leadership and consensus-building skills.
  • Envisions and proposes new methods to perform tasks that support an entrepreneurial approach of thinking and acting that is core to Bryant’s brand; takes thoughtful risks; and accepts new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with frequent deadlines in a fast-paced agile marketing management environment. Excellent organization and project management skills; ability to work successfully in an agile environment is necessary.
  • Anticipates and embraces change; demonstrates willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, MS office products, Drupal, and a wide range of social media platforms.
