We are looking for a strategic and dynamic Senior Associate, Facilities to join our Facilities team in New York or Connecticut.


Your Impact

You will be responsible for ensuring our facilities are well maintained and safe. Your role will be to oversee facilities maintenance, operations and management of existing and future schools in a geographic portfolio including overseeing the work of facility service vendors; managing site improvement projects; and coordinating with school administration to ensure delivery of services in a timely and efficient manner.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Facilities, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating, prioritizing and managing the needs and requests of multiple schools in New York and Connecticut
  • Partnering with Achievement First school-based and network facilities staff, property management and external vendors to make sure that there are standardized and effective operations and maintenance of all Achievement First school buildings in New York or Connecticut
  • Ensure all CT/NY facilities meet the local, state and federal compliance standards including environmental (AHERA, radon, Lead testing, etc.).
  • Occasional cross collaboration with the Facilities Capital/Finance team.
  • Collaborate with Property Management companies and/or directly manage site improvement projects, maintenance and repairs in New York properties.
  • Manage all site improvement and capital repair projects including vendor sourcing, RFP development, bidding, vendor walkthroughs, recommendations, contracting, budgeting, stakeholder communications, vendor communications for all Connecticut properties (currently includes 6 buildings, 10 schools.)

Candidate Profile

All candidates must have experience with supporting, managing and executing tasks related to facilities operations & management to be successful.

An ideal candidate will demonstrate competency in the following areas:

  • General knowledge of building mechanics (HVAC, boiler, water heaters, etc.)
  • Vendor negotiations and relations as well as contract administration
  • Knowledge of relevant property management and environmental compliance laws, ordinances and regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proactive communication style
  • Strong attention to detail and reasoning abilities, organized.
  • Data analysis and data analytics skills

In addition, the following characteristics are required to be successful on this team:

  • 2 - 3 years of work experience in a related field is preferred (or 5 - 7 years without Bachelor's degree)
  • Belief in the Achievement First mission and educational model
  • Confident in interacting with and influencing individuals at all levels within the organizations
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‐paced, entrepreneurial environment;
  • Ability to work both independently, as well collaborate as part of a team
  • Demonstrate and display honesty, integrity, and personal accountability
  • Communicate areas of concern regularly and proactively
  • Commitment to the ongoing development and knowledge of operations and management best practices
  • Reliable transportation to NY/CT schools
  • Attendance will be required on building sites, as needed.

Compensation

Achievement First sets salaries through a lens of equity, and based on the requisite skills, education, and experience relevant to the role. The salary for this position is $85,295.28. In order to uphold our commitment to equity, Achievement First does not negotiate pay.
