Senior Biostatistician
Job description
Odyssey Systems is recruiting for a Senior Biostatistician to support research and operational health studies that have the goal of improving readiness, combat effectiveness, and soldier health. In this role, the Sr. Biostatistician will work within the Department of Epidemiology. Their research is directed toward a wide spectrum of public health issues affecting military readiness and national security. Tasks may require acquiring data from multiple military sources, entering, cleaning and merging data to create an analytic dataset, performing statistical analyses, generating results, and preparing reports and presentations.
**The RFP is expected to release in the Fall with an expected start date in January 2023**
Responsibilities:- Biostatistical and epidemiological analysis requires theoretical expertise and experience in generalized linear models, survival analyses, proportional hazards, and other types of multivariate statistical models.
- Senior Biostatistician is responsible for developing statistical/mathematical models in the evaluation of epidemiological data.
- Must be able to manage categorical data, as well as clustered data and develop models using longitudinal methods, multivariate analyses, repeated measures, and other advanced multivariate statistical analyses.
- Collaborates with departmental researchers to determine study protocols and analysis plans.
- Develops and delivers departmental analytical reports and oral/visual presentations to professional groups.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of SAS, Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
- Experience with military preventive medicine issues, military populations, military structure, datasets.
- Familiar with clinical decision software to explore the effects of discounting, variations in clinical assumptions, and other aspects of sensitivity analysis in cost and cost effectiveness analyses.
- Good writing skills, preferably demonstrated by one or more published articles as author or co-author.
- Must be able to work with and mentor graduate students and preventive medicine residents
- Ability to interact with military leadership and other personnel efficiently and clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:

Additional training in economic analytical modeling in a medical environment is highly desirable.

Training or experience in developing predictive models for success/failure in large populations using risk factors of various strength and positive predictive value is very useful.
- Onsite at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring, MD
- May require travel as needed to support meetings or conferences

Please note: Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as the Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
