POSITION TITLE: Senior Commodity Manager
REPORTS TO: Director of Supply Chain
LOCATION: Rohnert Park, CA
DEPARTMENT/UNIT: Supply Chain
BASIC FUNCTION:
Develop, prioritize, and execute short and long-term sourcing initiatives that reduce supply chain complexity and achieve minimum of 3% YOY material productivity. Use a variety of tools to drive supplier delivery and quality improvements. Identify and develop best “in-region supply base” for critical components while also reducing overall supply chain complexity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
POSITION FOCUS:
Utilizes 80/20 mindset to establish strategy and reduce supply base complexity for assigned commodities. This also includes identifying opportunities for product complexity reduction and leading project teams to do so.
Responsible to negotiate and manage suppliers to achieve quality, delivery, and cost targets within respective commodities.
Negotiates contracts with suppliers of assigned commodities ensuring that the best total cost is realized. Contracts will include such items, as discounts, payment terms, shipping terms, stocking agreements, quality parameters, service requirements etc.
Manages existing supply base to continually improve performance. Understands the current suppliers and economic conditions to effectively mitigate risk.
Responsible to drive internal efforts to resolve supplier issues.
Stays abreast of current market conditions and new technologies within their markets
Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, thinks independently, shows initiative, anticipates and prevents problems, mechanical aptitude, excellent analytical and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to interface effectively with suppliers and employees while maintaining a strong customer satisfaction orientation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES:
BS degree in Supply Chain Management or related discipline
At least 5 years in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibilities or equivalent experience
Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus
Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus
Six Sigma experience is a plus
Demonstrated Project Management Skills
Excellent analytical skills are required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
