INTRODUCTION

The Senior Director of Health Operations reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer ensuring daily operations are achieved in a manner consistent with Unity's mission, value, and standards. This position directly supervises the Health Center Directors and is a key contributor to the executive leadership team. This position is responsible for assessing, implementing, and evaluating administrative and programming processes in the health centers to promote efficiency and quality patient care.


MAJOR DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides operational oversight of multiple FQHC locations throughout the District of Columbia to include school-based sites, and homeless sites. Meets regularly with Health Center Directors performing in-person support in the field on a day-to-day basis
  • Provides direct oversight and management to Health Center Directors. Includes hiring, coaching, terminating, and recruiting, as well as other administrative management functions, such as payroll and expense management
  • Collaborate with Health Center Directors to identify best practices and opportunities to enhance operations and improve efficiencies related to practice management
  • Collaborate with Health Center Directors, Medical and Nursing leadership, and Finance for continuous compliance with regulation and finance standards of DHCF, HRSA and DOH
  • Collaborate with Health Center Director, Patient Financial Services Director, and Director of Patient Engagement to assure operational and financial compliance and competence of Population Health initiatives and Billing guidelines are coordinated to optimize patient access points
  • Collaborate with other Program Leaders (Behavioral Health, OB/GYN, and ID) on designing workflows to assure operational competence is consistent to care delivery
  • Collaborate with the Health Center Director in developing a system to provide data to Executive Management and/or Quality Improvement. Ensures that systems are in place to capture information required for grant reports. Collaborate with EEE, Director of Customer Experience, and Workforce Development and Training to assist site leadership on developing customer service opportunities for health center staff
  • Manage and supervise the Director of Patient Access and Scheduling and serve as the Operational liaison for the centralized call center for appointment and scheduling procedures, telephone handling procedures, advance access and centralize staffing roles to perform all functions
  • Assists the Health Center Directors and Medical Directors in resolving administrative issues that may impact quality of care
  • Attends the site-specific Health Center Provider Meetings to determine the need for administrative support
  • Facilitates the hiring of designated operations staff
  • Leads the monthly Health Center Director meetings to review monthly reporting, annual fiscal and performance goals, service volume, quality of service, and patient/staff engagement
  • Serve as a stakeholder on other designated committee meetings to identify opportunities and implement new workflows to reduce variation, reduce cost, improve efficiencies related to EHR platform and enhance end-user productivity (eCW Stakeholder committee, CAB, DCPCA
  • eCW Implementation, Revenue Cycle, Patient Access)
  • Manage and supervises the Practice Management Trainer Specialist on providing on-boarding training for front office staff, regular intervals of competency audits, and ongoing training support across the health centers
  • Manages and supervises the WIC Program and Community Health Promoters Program. Participate on the Emergency Preparedness Committee to ensure that site annual hazard vulnerability assessments are complete for CHC to improve the site team’s readiness for emergencies
  • Provides direct supervision to the HIMS Manager
  • Collaborate with Health Center Director to ensure Facilities Manager is adhering to work orders timely related to building and grounds
  • Collaborate with Health Center Director to ensure Environmental Services Supervisor is adhering to building cleanliness and infection control


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a health-related field
  • Master’s degree in Business or health-related field preferred
  • Five years of experience managing/overseeing a medical office/provider practice with scheduling
  • Experience in patient financial/registration processes
  • Experience in working a nonprofit/ambulatory care health center or equivalent
  • Experience in Community Health Center or Federally Qualified Health Center preferred
