Cimarron is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) program at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The ML2 will be used, like the first mobile launcher, as the platform for assembling and testing the Space Launch System (SLS) in the Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center, transporting the rocket to Launch Complex 39B, and supporting the vehicle’s launch. The platform includes various interfaces for fueling the rocket, providing power and data, and a crew access arm.

This opportunity offers a competitive salary and the opportunity for additional cash-in-lieu of benefits. This is a hybrid opportunity that will allow for some remote work (i.e. some days in the office, some days work from home).

Key Duties:

  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment with limited oversight.
  • Perform electrical engineering design, including the development of single-line diagrams, panel schedules, schematics, connection diagrams, load lists, etc.
  • Develop material requisitions and specifications for non-standard equipment and bills of material for off-the-shelf equipment and components.
  • Interpret and apply codes, standards, and customer design requirements for the preparation of electrical design documents, specifications, material requisitions, and system descriptions related to design tasks.
  • Conduct extensive document and design checking to complete a full suite of electrical engineering deliverables.

  • Ensure electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.



Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Cimarron employees are required to follow federal, state, and local laws regarding COVID-19 practices, as well as customer requirements.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge and experience applying NEC code and ANSI/IEEE standards.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and electrical equipment layouts.
  • Strong understanding of engineering discipline drawings and system calculations such as short circuits and load flow.
  • Ability to size equipment and perform cable sizing calculations.
  • Experience with ETAP and other industry-wide electrical systems design tools, such as CAD 2D, and electronic Cable Management System.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, and work well with others and within a team.
  • Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines.
  • Ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 9 or more years of related design experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and 4 or more years of related design experience.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and 7 or more years of related design experience.
  • PE Registration – or in process of obtaining PE registration.
  • Experience with the SETROUTE program.
  • Ability to input and complete corrections in a database.
  • Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience.
