Senior Financial Analyst – Residential/Commercial

Summary of Role

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for overseeing the financial performance of the NovaSource residential and commercial business units within the United States. Key responsibilities will include understanding cost and profit drivers, communicating with various stakeholders to improve financial performance, and establishing a process of reporting to educate a wide stakeholder group about overall business unit performance. The ideal candidate will have good analytical skills, strong communication skills, and general business acumen. They will also need to be a self-starter and be proactive in discovering issues, and shaping solutions and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with business and finance teams to develop and refine operational and financial KPIs; establish reporting and analysis on a timely basis.
• Understand business processes and operational/financial technology to drive operational efficiencies in the business unit.
• Fully analyze and understand cost drivers and their impact on unit cost structure. Be able to aid in operational decision-making, including personnel (hiring or contracting) decisions, and planning of capital and operating expenditures.
• Collaborate with accounting teams on residential and commercial projects, including defining project financial milestones, margin review, and maximizing total project profitability.
• Recommend ongoing improvements to increase business unit results.
• Implement and maintain a detailed recurring budget vs actuals analysis, working with department leads to forecast and perform variance analysis.
• Understand and explain accounting implications to non-finance stakeholders to aid decision-making.
• Work with the Accounting team to improve accounting classifications, chart of accounts structure, and general coding; support accounting KPIs (DPO, DSO, etc.)
• Support cashflow forecasting process.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, ideally with a CPA
• 5 years of proven experience with technical strengths in financial and operational analysis
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with Management at all levels.
• Track record of interpreting financial performance and translating to senior management.
• Track record of discovering financial efficiencies and making improvements to the bottom-line performance
• Strong systems and reporting user. Able to understand the buildup of numbers and extract relevant data. Ideally with experience of Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce FinancialForce, and Anaplan
• Highly Analytical, with strong attention to detail
• Knowledge of US GAAP
• Fluent in English
• Self-starter - willing to work independently and pro-actively.

Bonus Skills and Experience

• Experience in the solar power / renewable energy industry is considered an asset.
• Experience in a multi-location operational environment

OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION

• Reports to CFO with operational reporting into business unit leadership
• This is an FTE position.
• Location: Chandler, AZ (Corporate HQ) – Possibility of remote working mode (to evaluate with Manager)
• Applicants must be flexible and willing to render overtime as business requires.
