We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Life Underwriting Transformation Consultant to join our Underwriting Transformation team. This role can be 100% remote.

As Senior Life Underwriting Transformation Consultant you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by participating in the execution of the underwriting transformation roadmap, using medical and non-medical underwriting knowledge and experience. You’ll collaborate with Risk Selection management, medical directors, underwriters, product actuaries, reinsurance partners, data analyst s and others in further defining and enhancing the roadmap. In this role, you will also be part of a team that conducts research, participate in UI design/functionality, test new products/processes and communicate results for new vendors, processes and/or methodologies.

What You’ll Do
Execution of the Underwriting Transformation Roadmap

Provide subject matter expertise and support for the roadmap, including but not limited to research, analysis, requirements gathering and assumption validation

Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to ensure that the project/program deliverables align with roadmap, business objectives and established KPI’s, including but not limited to the shift to model driven decision making, enhancements to the customer experience, improved efficiencies, and risk assessment effectiveness

Consult with appropriate business leaders and stakeholders to ensure proper understanding and acknowledgment of mortality/process predictability trade-offs and/or related risks

Research and Development

Use underwriting expertise and experience, engage in research of new vendor s, tools, and risk assessment techniques to further advance the risk assessment process

Assist with organized studies and controlled releases, including developing the approach, desired results, communication plan and the publication of results, with recommendations

Partner with reinsurance team to work with reinsurers on change in process and reinsurance adjustments

Where appropriate, provide direction to team members involved with controlled releases, including business volunteers and SME’s to ensure consistent testing methodology and accurate results

Ongoing Monitoring and Measuring

Monitors effectiveness of implemented programs, tools, and risk techniques using available data analytics, forensic underwriting results, leader and associate feedback, other audit data, etc.

Gather, assemble, and publish/communicate metrics according to established cadence

Participate in special projects, department meetings, and/or industry conferences as appropriate

Possibly present and train in appropriate forums on new process, tools, or technology, as well as provide overview of the competitive landscape as it relates to the underwriting process

Represent Pacific Life at industry and vendor events and share findings and outcomes with appropriate stakeholders

Participate in training, webinars, and presentations sponsored by Underwriting and Medical Leadership, reinsurers, or vendors for continuing education, and ensure alignment with current underwriting and regulatory practices

Factors for Success

10+ years in life insurance underwriting

3+ years participation in projects or studies for life insurance underwriting innovation

3+ years with underwriting models, rules engines, with automated decision experience preferred

Proven ability to understand technology and translate it into useful business processes and practice.

Project management and/or process improvement experience preferred

Strong verbal and written communication

Strong analytical skills, ability to organize data and documents, close attention to detail

Bachelor’s degree; additional skills and/or experience may result in a higher level

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
$103,300.00 - $129,100.00 - $174,300.00
