Join Safe Harbor as our Sexual Assault Specialist to to provide victim/survivor services on issues related to sexual assault and human trafficking by providing specialized crisis and trauma services and support.

This includes assisting victims of crimes, providing education, safety planning and empowerment. This position will work closely with community partners on systemic responses to sexual assault and trafficking.

Must be able to represent the mission, values and philosophy of Safe Harbor to program participants, employees, and the general public. Model and promote attitudes of non-violence, anti-oppression, inclusiveness, and power-sharing in all facets of position responsibilities, especially when working with community partners. Be an outspoken voice against violence against women and children, teen dating violence, sexual assault, rigid gender roles, and norms of masculinity within the community through conversation, trainings, social media, and one-on-one conversations.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Direct Service:

  • Assist with development and implementation of a robust sexual assault program for Safe Harbor, including outcome evaluation
  • With a trauma informed lens, create and maintain a safe and engaging environment for victims and survivors.
  • Provide support and advocacy including communiy resources, support, information and referrals, and education.
  • Model and keep current with best practice related to working with sexual assault and human trafficking; lead in important decision making regarding internal programs and services.
  • Facilitate, co-facilitate adn oversees sexual assault support groups for victims, survivors and family/friends.
  • Support multi-disciplinary team efforts including Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and Human Trafficking Task Force.
  • Accompanies victims to court, child advocacy centers, medial providers and law enofrcement to provide advocacy and follow up services
  • Provide coverage of the 24-hour hotline as specified by the staff rotation schedule and respond, when needed, to the shelter, hospitals, court or advocacy center anytime during those shifts
  • Provide direct services including crisis intervention, advocacy, life skills training, parenting support, legal and medical advocacy, information and referrals, safety planning and goal setting for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Work closely to establish and maintain meaningful impact and collaboration with Victim Witness and the District Attorney's office to assist in providing court preparation and support to children, teens and families as they go through court process

Administration

  • Assist with development, implementation and maintenance of data for measuring service delivery outcomes, program effectiveness and follow-up for program population
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate client and other agency records; compile monthly and quarterly resident data, and monthly program reports
  • Responsible for ensuring that reports and data that enhance the agency’s fund-raising efforts, community education and proposal writing are submitted in a timely and thorough manner

Other

  • Attend community and state forums as necessary
  • Support agency events through attendance as appropriate
  • Identify, train and utilize volunteers to maximize agencies efforts in the community
  • Provide support and advocacy to Safe Harbor participants including resource, support, and information referrals, education, and advocacy, especially concerning youth services when needed and available
  • Provide on-call coverage to crisis line, after hours, in an equivalent amount to other advocates/staff
  • Attend weekly staff and case review meetings and other agency meetings, as requested
  • Represent the agency at community meetings/functions through participation in collaborative meetings and community outreach presentations
  • Responsible for maintaining order, safety and cleanliness of children’s play area
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS.

  • Experience working with sexual or domestic violence issues and trauma preferred.
  • Excellent judgment, an ability to exercise discretion and tact in difficult or confidential situations and an ability to project a positive, professional image to the public.
  • High degree of flexibility and the ability to problem solve and make decisions individually and /or within a team, in order to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to articulately communicate and interact comfortably and effectively with staff, funders, board, community partners and governmental agencies.
  • Ability to work with both youth and adults in a variety of settings with a commitment to and experience in working with people from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds and lifestyles.
  • Computer proficient including an intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Must have reliable transportation and maintain valid driver’s license and insurance coverage for vehicle
  • Bilingual a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
