Job Summary:

Responsible for providing supervision and trauma-informed care of clients in the Residential Treatment program. Employee implements treatment programming in a milieu environment as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals.

Has Developed Competency in the Following Areas:

  • Understanding of Trillium’s policies, including locating policies, expressing understanding of policy and how it impacts clients and staff, and uses policy to guide interactions and behavior with clients and coworkers.
  • Understands and uses of risk management procedures, protocols, policies, and interventions related to high risk client behavior. This is achieved through policy review, training compliance, and validated observation which demonstrates these competencies
  • Understands developmental stages and has demonstrated the ability to communicate with all clients in a manner with consistent with the client’s unique needs
  • Understands the treatment process (from assessment to discharge), including the importance of interdisciplinary communication, family engagement, documentation, and relationship building. Is consistently able to articulate this process to clients, their resources and coworkers in a manner consistent with their unique needs.
  • Understands and regularly uses crisis management strategies and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention principals of Care, Welfare Safety and Security. Prioritizes the use of non-physical de-escalation techniques whenever possible. Safely engages in physical intervention, as a last resort, as instructed in the course. Actively takes on leadership roles during physical interventions and guides coworkers safely through the interventions, when needed.
  • Understands complex tenets of Evidence Based Practices used with clients, according to their individual treatment plans, and engages in Individual Skills Training opportunities with clients using these practices. Is able to demonstrate competency in teaching 10 or more evidenced based skills. Provides opportunities for coworkers to learn, observe and practice the use of these evidenced based practices within the team and with clients.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be organized and planful for the shift, including, knowing the plan for the shifts at least a week in advance, coordinating with Skills Trainers and Program Supervisor for supply ordering and organization.
  • Demonstrates the leadership ability to facilitate a structured shift, including, following program schedule, ensuring clients arrive to appointments on time, engaging in data tracking required for clients, and facilitating paperwork at the end of the shift.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead Skills Trainers, including: modeling expected performance at all times on shift, delegating tasks, teaching and giving feedback in a way that is professional and the Skills Trainer can understand and learn from, facilitating shift meetings as needed, and communicating with Program Supervisors the strengths and areas of growth for Skills Trainers on the team.
  • When needed, will facilitate Group Skills Training or group activities with clients in accordance with their individualized treatment plan. Provides opportunities for other skills trainers to co-facilitate groups as part of their training process.
  • Actively participates in additional training opportunities in order to deepen knowledge and further develop practice skills. Maintains training compliance with Relias.
  • Demonstrates ability to engage in milieu management strategies, including, client engagement activities, decision making, team interactions, and ways to create and maintain a safe milieu. Participates in beginning and end of shift team debriefs.
  • Provides supervision and training to assigned Residential Skills Trainers, interns or volunteers with a focus on developing mastery of their essential duties, responsibilities, and competencies as well as ongoing professional development.

  • Engages and encourages client participation in the academic setting based on clients’ state and stage
  • Engages in positive and appropriate relationship-building with clients, their resources, and coworkers. This includes, collaborating with others, engaging in problem solving opportunities, sharing and giving feedback in respectful ways, understands and demonstrates appropriate professional boundaries,
  • Behaves in a professional and respectful manner, at all times, with clients, their resources and coworkers, as evidenced by non-violent actions, using appropriate and safe language, and following the dress code outlined in policy.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Actively demonstrates respect for clients, their resources and coworker through language and behavior.
  • Engages in good use of individual and group supervision, including attending as scheduled, actively participating in learning opportunities within supervision, bringing topics to supervision, and giving and receiving feedback.
  • Use of the EHR, including locating and understanding information about clients; completing documentation of professional quality; completing documentation within the timelines specified by policy
  • Understands and engages in good self-care and boundaries, in accordance with trauma-informed principles
  • Remains awake, alert and engaged during work shift hours
  • Demonstrates the ability to administer medications to clients when needed, per TFS policy
  • Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervision of assigned staff, interns and volunteers, including but not limited to: training, professional development, conflict resolution, team building and discipline, evaluation, hiring, and staffing determinations

Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent. Preference given to applicants with an Associate or bachelor’s degree, but experience maybe substituted. Experience working in a psychiatric/behavioral health treatment facility with children or adolescents is preferred. Maintain a driving record acceptable by the agency and a current driver’s license for state of residence, when authorized to use own vehicle for agency business, employee must maintain personal insurance

Skills: Basic computer knowledge for the implementation of client information electronic record keeping.
