About the Reengagement Center:
Launched in 2021, the Aspen Functional Zero Pilot Project’s goal is to reduce postsecondary disconnection of Opportunity Youth (OY) in New Orleans through the establishment of a Reengagement Center. The Reengagement Center will focus on connecting youth to post-secondary education opportunities including college, occupational skills training, and military leading to viable career pathways as well as focus exclusively on the needs of OY to reduce disconnection and support reconnection.
Position Overview:
The Social Services Coordinator is responsible for supporting young people enrolled in the Reengagement Center. The Social Services Coordinator works closely with participants to provide a multi-tiered system of support that aligns with best practices in youth and career development utilizing methods of prevention/intervention in preparing for post-secondary education opportunities. The Social Services Coordinator will use a trauma-informed approach in preparing participants for career pathways with an emphasis on assisting young people in managing life stressors/challenges through evidence-based programs and practices. The Social Services Coordinator reports to the Reengagement Center Director.
Key Responsibilities:
The Social Services Coordinator will:
- Provide Mental Health expertise to participants
- Provide prevention/intervention services to participants including, but not limited to:
- Assess referred participants for service needs
- Develop and implement individual participant service plans
- Chart participant’s progress and activity in an electronic database
- Collect and record data for program evaluation
- Serve as a liaison between participant and community resources
- Participate in cross-sector team meetings to identify participant needs
- Provide Small Group and Individual learning modules (emotion regulation, social-emotional learning, life skills, etc.)
- Provide required documentation including but not limited to monthly reports
- Work collaboratively with other Collaborative members including CMO/school staff, counselors, service providers, and community-based organizations
- Participate in continuing professional development
- Other duties as requested
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work and/or Counseling with licensure in the state of Louisiana (Highly Preferred)
- Master’s Degree in Social Work and/or Counseling
- Experience working with young people, ages 16-24 or out-of-school youth
- Ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with young people
- Ability to work independently, and to function effectively with multiple tasks
- Ability to organize time and workload to fulfill requirements of the job
- Working knowledge of community resources for referrals
- Knowledge of issues facing young people
- Demonstrates Cultural Competency and Critical Social Analysis
- Basic computer mastery skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google Workspace
- Flexibility in a hybrid work environment

The salary for this position is set at $55,000 annually, including full comprehensive medical, vision, and dental benefits, 401K retirement, and flexible PTO.
