Position Summary:
Federal Data Systems is looking for a Software Integration Engineer to execute full-spectrum software integration and validation testing to meet program goals. The Software Integration Engineer will design and develop solutions based on stakeholder requirements to streamline and/or resolve system performance issues.
Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with system design, development and verification testing (U) Create system documentation and build procedures.
  • Expertise in Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) of Installation Package, tools, software and documentation. Experience must include the ability to support identification of gaps in documentation, software, or other elements of an Installation Package.
  • Assist with updates to documentation based on new test cases or implementation steps identified.
  • Reviews project documentation and build procedures.
  • Verifies and validates that security controls for the system meet stated confidentiality, integrity and availability requirements.
  • Serves in a leadership role providing guidance and direction to a development or engineering team in a program or perform independent research to analyze and resolve highly complex IT issues, or serve as a recognized subject matter expert in a program-related technology or domain area.
  • Develops and delivers technical presentations or demonstrations to customers or stakeholders.
  • Recommends processes or standards that enhance the efficiency or productivity of an IT system.
  • Develops estimate of resources and schedule required to implement IT systems/components.
  • Provides technical guidance or mentorship to other team members.
  • Perform an analysis of alternatives and recommend the application of appropriate technologies that meet system performance or functional requirements.
  • Design and develop solutions by analyzing stakeholder requirements and conferring with users or system engineers and software developers.
  • Design and implement solutions to complex problems and large-scale projects.
  • Research, document and present business cases for migrating to and incorporating new technologies (U) Develop system installation or build procedures or scripts.
  • Analyze and resolve system performance issues (e.g., response time or timing problems, interface/integration problems, system bottlenecks, data flow issues).
  • Assist with developing, executing and analyzing integration test procedures for system components.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Due to the nature of this position and the information that employees will be required to access, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Twelve (12) years of experience as a as an engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Systems, or related discipline is required.
  • DoD 8570.01-M compliance with IAM Level 2 is required (CAP, CASP+ CE, CISM, CISSP or Associate, GSLC, CCISO, or HCISPP).
  • Required Security Clearance: TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.

  • Ability to evaluate installation resources provided and work with a development team to resolve defects of an Installation Package.

  • Ability to build Installation Package and create a repeatable installation process for system engineers.

  • Skill in integrating solutions into new or modified systems or operating environments.

  • Ability to validate and analyze functional requirements and be able to produce sufficient test cases to validate that the installation meets intended functional requirements. Derive further test cases if needed to isolate any defects discovered.

  • Ability to identify defects of system implementation documentation and build procedures and work with the development team to resolve and retest these procedures until results are favorably repeatable.
  • Skill in validating any non-functional requirements such as performance targets of the system.
Desired Skills:
  • TS/SCI with Full-scope polygraph is desired.

Working Conditions: Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are normally set from Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. Additional details on the precise hours will be informed to the candidate from the Program Manager/Hiring Manager.

Physical Requirements:
May be required to lift and carry items weighting up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.

Background Screening/Check/Investigation:
Successful Completion of a Background Screening/Check/Investigation will be required as a condition of hire.
