The Software QA/BA Analyst will ensure software quality through manual testing and data analysis. This position will be responsible for finding, analyzing, and reporting bugs and/or other software issues. The Software QA/BA Analyst will have the opportunity to participate in software enhancement design, requirements analysis and root cause analysis. Ultimately, the Software QA/BA Analyst will ensure that Symmetry’s products, applications, and systems work correctly. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytic and critical thinking skills, and excellent verbal and written communication. This is a good role for an experienced QA engineer who wants to grow into a Business Analyst role or someone who is interested in a hybrid role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a solid understanding of end-to-end Symmetry application and data architecture to support requirements analysis, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Conduct testing for ETL and Data Warehouse changes; origination system releases and customizations; custom developed partner portal; and all reports developed by Symmetry
  • Participate in Business Requirements Analysis and documentation on designated new capabilities developed by Symmetry development
  • Conduct analysis on issues reported by the business to determine their root cause and recommended solution
  • Review and analyze business requirements documents to ensure adequate testing
  • Develop and execute test cases based on requirements
  • Work closely with Developers, Business Analysts and other project team members to analyze test results, locate problems, identify root causes, and develop solutions
  • Help troubleshoot issues
  • Conduct post-release/post-implementation testing
  • Partner with IT team to implement quality assurance standards and procedures and ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Identify, log, classify, track, and monitor software defects
  • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of products
  • Develop regression test cases for critical applications with frequent changes
  • Investigate and verify end-user reported defects
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system

Qualifications / Requirements

  • 5+ year of experience in Software Quality Assurance
  • Strong knowledge of Databases including SQL Server and Standard SQL required
  • Prior experience working with Loan Origination Software preferred
  • Ability to document and troubleshoot errors
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong understanding of data and ability to analyze data to answer business questions
  • Clear documentation and detailed defect reports including steps to reproduce actual and expected results
  • Proactive follow up with developers on open defects
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Defect Tracking applications, and Virtual Machines
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and creative thinking skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate relevant project information with coworkers, peers, and management through written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manually translate Functional Requirement Documents into test plans, test cases, test procedures, test scripts, and expected results
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Ability to work well with others or individually
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
