Job description
The Senior Director of Human Resources - Gaming will partner with the VP of Gaming Ops and the Business GM's to drive HR programs, processes, and projects across the assigned business units. Will work with the Dir. or Sr. Dir. of HR at each of the businesses to administer human resources policies and programs, balancing employee advocacy and business operating needs. Partners with business operational leaders to fully understand business issues, and how HR can best support achieving results. Responsible to help develop a culture that will promote equity, fair treatment, and positive employee relations. Provides comprehensive HR support in the area of employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, compensation, retention, performance management, conflict management, and leadership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Acts as a partner and adviser to the VP of Gaming Operations and the HR teams to support business and HR objectives
- Collaborates with other HR team members to leverage their expertise in delivering and implementing functional initiatives.
- Provides HR analysis to assist in various HR projects and initiatives.
- Collaborates with business leaders and HR teams to establish important HR metrics to be measured.
- Participates in HR and VP of Gaming staff meetings and works to expand the level of knowledge in all HR processes and procedures.
- Partners with management to interpret Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.
- Assists the business locations with general issues pertaining to benefits, policy interpretation, employee performance and other HR products and deliverables
- Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations concerning on boarding, employment, employee relations, and employee counseling to include terminations.
- Ensures effective, thorough and objective investigations and comprehensive reports from the HR teams at the business units
- Helps to resolve routine employee relations issues and complaints. Keeps management advised of potential issues and recommends solutions as appropriate.
- Analyzes exit interview data and makes recommendations to the HR and business team for corrective action, continuous improvement and to increase retention rates.
- Analyzes employee engagement survey data and advises the local HR teams during action planning and team follow-up. Looks to identify trends across locations and works with VP of Gaming to make recommendations for improvements.
- Works like local HR teams to ensure consistent and timely management of employee leaves (STD, LTD, Workers Comp, FMLA); has strong understanding of reasonable accommodations and the interactive process; ensures appropriate written correspondence as well as maintains all documentation that accompany such leaves.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Will supervise the HR leaders at the assigned HRM Gaming business units, who have a dotted line reporting relationship to the GM. The GM is responsible for the management of business operations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8-10 years of human resource experience.
- SPHR or PHR a plus.
- Demonstrated, considerable knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
- Solid working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to relate well to individuals and groups with widely varying backgrounds, perspectives, education, and skills.
- Superior communication, both oral and written, cooperation, and organizational skills.
- Excellent HRIS, MS Office Suite skills required. Self-starter and problem-solver strong plus.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
- The ability to research and analyze various types of data.
- Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or law.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Excellent computer skills in all Microsoft applications, HRIS, and timekeeping/reporting preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of all applicable employment, EEOC and other laws that pertain to the Human Resource functions with thorough knowledge of all state and federal laws and regulations preferred.
- Ability to communicate appropriately with team members and guests.
- Ability to successfully fulfill the pre-employment process.
- Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and special events as designated by the SVP of HR and/or VP of Gaming.

Education
Required- Bachelors or better in Human Resource Administration or related field
