Job description
Strategic Analysis, Inc. (SA) is actively looking for a Sr. Scientist Engineer to support the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s Biological Technologies Office (DARPA BTO) for program development and management in the areas of human microbiome manipulation, reducing human musculoskeletal injuries, and physiological adaptation to extreme environments.
Ideal candidates for this position will have research experience in one or more of the following technical areas, with the breadth of expertise to assess and inform a range of technologies and potential applications: human host/microbiome interactions and signaling mechanisms (e.g., skin, gut-muscle, gut-bone; extracellular vesicles); microbial/microbiome engineering; prebiotics/probiotics/synbiotics; physiological adaptations for extreme environments (e.g., low temperature, high altitude); musculoskeletal resilience (e.g., human, animal, in vivo and in vitro models).
Qualifications
Education: Must hold a PhD in one of the following (or related) fields: Human Physiology, Human Bacteriology/Microbiology/Microbial Ecology, or Biochemistry.
Clearance: ability to obtain a Secret clearance
Skills:
- Candidates will be required to work closely with the Program Manager as well as other technical staff to support the execution of existing R&D programs as well as the design, development, and source selection for new programs.
- Excellent technical writing, time management and organizational skills are required.
- Must be able to communicate complex scientific ideas to diverse audiences and synthesize research findings and insights across a broad range of biotechnological areas.
- Additional ability to identify opportunities for scientific innovation, and handle a wide variety of tasks, such as briefing support and general administrative actions is required.
- Candidates must have a breadth of expertise to assess and inform the development of research and development (R&D) programs leading to varied technologies and applications.
