Position Definition:

Under the supervision of the Director/Principal Investigator at the Center for Population Brain Health (CPBH), the Staff Research Associate will work on several NIH funded research projects focused on dementia risk and prevention. Key priorities will be to support all aspects of the research protocol and daily study operations for several epidemiological research projects; perform brain health epidemiological research including oversight of study progress to ensure adherence to timelines; produce detailed reports of study progress; analytic proposal development; data analysis, synthesis, and interpretation; summarizing and disseminating research findings in the context of the literature through manuscript preparation, presentations, an active website, and social media updates; coordinate research meetings; as well as provide research support as needed. The candidate must have strong management skills and the ability to adapt and address new challenges, will ensure that all research commitments are met, and that CPBH maintains a reputation for excellence in all activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist the Principal Investigator and Study Coordinators in the coordination of daily study operations for several NIH funded studies
  • Perform epidemiological research including literature reviews, designing analytic projects, applying statistical methods, and data interpretation and synthesis
  • Develop and present manuscripts and presentations for professional meetings and journals.
  • Disseminate research findings through an active website, social media platforms and a newsletter.
  • Coordinate and support research meetings including works in progress meetings and conferences.
  • Help manage regulatory research documents including UCSF IRB approvals
  • Other research support duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • A /B.S. or equivalent combination of training/experience
  • At least two years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a research support capacity
  • Professional skills including time management, superior organization, ability to meet multiple deadlines, attention to detail, be resourceful and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Highly proficient working with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge of SAS, STATA, R or other analytic software
  • Strong oral/written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's in neuroscience or epidemiology or other related field
  • Advanced knowledge of SAS, Stata, R, or other analytic software
  • Prior background in scientific writing
  • Experience with research in aging and dementia and working in an academic research setting
  • Prior experience with social media and/or website maintenance

The salary range for this position is $64,480.00 - $93,060.24.
