Serving young adults throughout Merrimack Valley (Lowell, Lawrence and Haverhill), UTEC was founded in 1999 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young adults (ages 17-25) overcome the very real challenges of poverty, gang involvement, unemployment. UTEC reaches 500+ youth annually through an evidence-based model aimed at reducing recidivism while increasing education and employment attainment

Job Summary

UTEC’s Streetworker Fellows meet young adults "where they’re at"; which includes on the streets, in jails or prisons, or at court. Their work serves as the engaging point of UTEC's model. The primary goals of the Streetworker Fellow are to: 1) engage with young adults to build relationship and recruit young adults for UTEC’s Streetworker program 2) Plan and facilitate events that promote UTEC programs (i.e. basketball tournaments, neighborhood BBQ’s, open mic, etc. 3) Connect young adults to Streetworkers for support.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute events throughout the year that engages young adults that are justice involved or gang involved
  • Outreach in hot spot neighborhoods
  • Connect young adults to Streetworkers for services
  • Organize marches for violence response
  • Monitor social media for information that could help the SW team
  • Attend court hearings with SW
  • Support SW in other recruiting processes

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to connect with young adults and peers
  • Ability to plan and execute engaging events for recruitment
  • Passion to learn

Education and Experience

  • Lived experience preferred,

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to travel to different institutions
  • Able to lift 25 lbs


This is a part time role for up to 20 hours per week, at a pay rate of $20 per hour.
