Since 1913, Jim Burke Ford Lincoln has steadfastly believed that we have a duty to make our community a better place, and that duty starts with inspiring young people to excel and put “service over self.” Our Director of Student Leadership works each year with thirty-two achieving high school seniors in Kern County and is responsible for bringing that commitment to life.
For nearly fifty years, the Ford Dimension and Dream Builders programs have been the signature way that Jim Burke Ford Lincoln has helped shape future leaders in Kern County and beyond. We are looking for someone passionate about continuing this tradition of inspiring young people to make a difference in our community.
The Student Leadership Director develops and executes the student leadership program for our Ford Dimension & Dream Builder groups under the guidance of the Vice President of Community Affairs and works closely with the Jim Burke Education Foundation. This person will foster a deep sense of "service over self" through multiple service projects and will prepare these high school seniors for college and future careers. He or she promotes learning through bi-weekly evening meetings which the Coordinator will lead or arrange community leaders to share their expertise.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) and at least two years of professional experience in education or training, with youth or business. Demonstrating experience in planning, implementing and evaluating successful programs is required. He or she must have strong computer and internet skills (including social media), good public speaking and presentation skills, strong organizational and time management skills, and excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Volunteer experience required.
This position has flexible hours in which to get the administrative duties completed, but evening hours are required, specifically Monday evenings. A clean driving record is needed.
Responsibilities Include:

• Develop, manage and monitor leadership programs
• Works with community leaders and corporate advisors to develop students
• Manages and oversees students which includes interviewing, scheduling, writing letters of recommendations, coordinating speakers, etc.
• Attends all meetings and offsite activities
• Oversees and directs community event highlighting student projects
• Oversees alumni related events and communication
• Works with Education Foundation on newsletter articles and website
• Follows company policies, procedures, and business code of ethics
• Train/teach students on college preparedness, career skills

Student Leadership Director Schedule
Your hours are flexible, but Monday nights would be required at least 2/month.
The interview process at the high schools requires several weeks during the spring.
