The Student Support Worker I/II position is designed for those just entering the workforce and is intended as a learning opportunity that will also benefit TURBOCAM. This position provides general support, which may be in a variety of areas throughout their work experience at TURBOCAM. Areas of responsibility are generally concentrated to a specific business unit for a period of time (e.g. summer) and may involve any of the following: assembly, deburring & finishing, shipping & receiving, assistance with grounds maintenance and clerical tasks.

Employees in this position are not permitted to perform work that may be considered hazardous and must not operate any hazardous machinery per the Department of Labor (DOL) requirements.

Position Specific Responsibilities

• Employees under 18 years of age MUST NOT operate “hazardous” machinery, per the DOL.
• A partial list of machinery considered hazardous includes: motor vehicle driving, being an outside helper on a motor vehicle, power-driven woodworking machines, power-driven hoisting apparatus, forklifts, power-driven saws, and power-driven metal-forming, punching, and shearing machines. Roofing operations, wrecking, demolition are not permitted. Refer to the DOL standards for additional hazardous jobs.
• Communicate with direct supervisor on a daily basis regarding progress and new assignments.
• As needed provide general office support: archiving, filing, copying, answering phones, sending faxes, writing letters.
• Help with inventories.
• Assist with research as needed.
• May assist in deburring and hand polishing parts per supervisor/project manager instructions. Promptly inform instructor and project manager of any problems and defects (i.e. dings, gouges, flaws).
• Support shipping and receiving as needed.
• Assist with landscaping: planting, pruning, spreading mulch, etc.
• Support and maintain overall efficiency by keeping work areas clean and safe.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Parental approval required.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent (may be in process).
• Interest in manufacturing and production helpful.
• Basic understanding of MS Office: Outlook desired, Word, and Excel helpful.
• Good math skills and clerical skills helpful.
• Must agree not to perform any hazardous work.
