Job Summary: Ensure Operational and Commercial compliance with Company, Subchapter M, ISM Code, and AWO RCP requirements, both shoreside and on each vessel, through education and the management of audits and reviews.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Help implement KMT TSMS and work to ensure compliance.
• Manage vessel inspections for KMT; ensure all vessel internal audits and surveys are assigned and carried out; coordinate vessel external audits with Company Representatives and TPO as required.
• Coordinate with internal customers for vessel readiness and availability as needed.
• Perform vessel internal audits as requested.
• Develop and submit formal corrective action plans if required by an external auditor/TPO or customer.
• Submit action requests in Company computer-based management system(s) to address internal inspections, external TSMS and ISM audits, and customer TMSA review findings.
• Track corrective/preventive actions stemming from vessel internal and external inspections, as well as from other observations for improvement to ensure they are effectively resolved in a timely manner.
• Ensure that data is properly maintained regarding the performance of the KMT TSMS.
• Review reports and analyze findings for the purpose of identifying trends; develop improvement plans as appropriate.
• Report to the Compliance Manager on the performance of the TSMS as a basis for the continual improvement of that system.
• Participate in internal and external TSMS audits and customer TMSA reviews.
• Serve as the KMT TSMS Company representative to both customers and external agencies, such as the USCG and American Bureau of Shipping, when delegated by the Compliance Manager.
• Assist in the provision of KMT TSMS awareness and training.
• Maintain awareness of all vessel and company certificates for annual/intermediate inspections.
• Provide support for vessels coming into service.
• Carry out all responsibilities defined in KMT TSMS policies and procedures.
• Participate in other Marine Assurance related activities as assigned.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Ability to prepare, summarize and communicate information effectively to both management and all other levels of employees within Kirby Corporation.
• Ability to effectively interact with both customers and external agencies in regard to the performance of KMT TSMS.

• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access).
• Knowledge of Oasis, HELM, and ABS Nautical Systems programs.
• Ability to navigate third-party websites.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Presentation and training skills.
• Working knowledge of boat and barge operations including types of personnel.

Education:

College degree required.

Experience:

3+ years of industry experience, preference given to candidates with experience in multiple divisions/operating groups within Kirby Corporation.

Special Requirements:

Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Ability to operate a company motor vehicle. Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
