Under direct supervision, the Tax Staff position performs assigned tasks in the technical areas of tax returns, tax research, client engagements or projects. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or someone with little tax experience looking to grow their career in a Top 100 Firm!
What You'll Need (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Law or related field 150 hours of college credit
CPA designation is preferred, but not required. 0-2 years of relevant position experience is preferred. Experience in a public accounting or professional services firm environment is preferred. Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals Ability to deal effectively with interpersonal relationships. Must possess a high degree of professionalism including the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality. Must be computer literate with the capability of performing at an intermediate or advanced level with respect to Microsoft Office Suite of products or similar software applications. Must be highly organized and capable of performing multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. Critical thinking skill capabilities are essential
What You'll Do (Main Responsibilities):
Participates on assigned tax engagements; in some instances, assuming substantial tax engagement/project oversight and responsibility (under supervision) for assigned engagements, including performing self-review of work product. Maintains a continuing base knowledge of accounting, audit and tax requirements. Prepares tax returns and financial statements Researches various tax issues as assigned. Stays current on tax law, AICPA, and state CPA society rules, regulations and code of ethics Completes assigned tax engagements/tasks in an efficient and timely manner as defined by budget and specific engagement expectations Accepts responsibility for work assigned and follows up on open assignments Identifies issues/concerns and communicates such items to supervisors Self-monitors accomplishments toward defined performance goals. Proactively communicates any issues/concerns relating to assignments Develops proficiency for Firm software applications and procedures. If applicable, actively upon employment, prepares for and takes the CPA examination until successful completion of the exam Demonstrates the ability to achieve skills necessary to be promoted to Tax Senior. Maintains a positive attitude and is receptive to constructive feedback. Demonstrates the ability to learn through formal and/or on-the-job training, the tasks assigned and the ability to excel in such areas. Complies with the professional and Firm requirements (e.g., employee handbook requirements, time entry procedures, audit quality control document requirements, etc.) including complying with confidentiality requirements (e.g., client information, proposal information, personnel information, job-related information, etc.). Actively attended and engages in meetings and training sessions. Maintains the required CPE for firm and licensing standards.
