Job Description - Preschool Lead Teacher

Early childhood teachers are responsible for providing quality care to the children and creating positive climates inside the classrooms. Teachers will plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities for their specific age group. Teachers will support the whole child and provide opportunities for children to learn cognitively, physically, socially, and emotionally. Teachers will have these characteristics and skills: respect for everyone, good communication, patience, good standing health, use of positive guidance practices and positive interactions with children, and adherence to state laws and center policies. Early childhood teachers will have full responsibility of their groups and their early childhood teacher assistants.

Qualifications

Early childhood teachers must have:

  • Sixty semester hours of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester hours in courses related to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six;

_ Or _

  • One year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a kindergarten or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester in courses related to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six.

_Or_

  • Completion of a credentialing program approved by the Department (CDA)

Job Description -Teacher Assistants

Early childhood lead teachers and teacher assistants are responsible for providing quality care to the children and creating positive climates inside the classrooms. Teacher assistants will assist lead teachers with implementing developmentally appropriate lessons and activities for their specific age group. All teachers will support the whole child and provide opportunities for children to learn cognitively, physically, socially, and emotionally. All teachers will have these characteristics and skills: respect for everyone, good communication, patience, good standing health, use of positive guidance practices and positive interactions with children, and adherence to state laws and center policies. Early childhood teacher assistants will work under the supervision of the lead teacher.

Qualifications:

Early childhood assistants will have all of the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED) or higher education

Job Type: Full-time

Salary will be based on experience and credentials. Hourly wage for lead teacher - up to $20/hour, paid holidays, paid personal days off. Hourly wage for assistant teachers - up to $16/hour, paid holidays, paid personal days off.

Sign-on bonuses of $500 will be given when employee has worked at least 6 months.
