Bakersfield Memorial Hospital includes 385 general acute beds, 48 licensed critical care beds, 13 state-of-the-art surgical suites, and a full-service Emergency Department with an Accredited Chest Pain Center and Nationally Certified Stroke Center. Responsibilities

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Telephone Operator to join our dynamic team. The Telephone Operator will perform duties in alignment with the Mission and Policies of the organization. Performs duties in support of and in compliance with the performance improvement plan, Joint Commission and other licensing, accrediting and regulatory agencies. Performs duties necessary to coordinate hospital PBX system and its applications. Is responsible for incoming and outgoing telephone calls, overhead paging, Security and safety conditions, CODES, Hospital directory and Patient inquiries. Responsible for contacting the appropriate or designated on-call teams and or Administrator on-call. Assists outside vendors, chaplains, security and others on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience in a call center setting or experience working with multiple phone lines
  • High School Diploma/GED, or 2 years equivalent work experience
Special Skills:
  • Typing 35 WPM, telecommunication experience
  • Working knowledge of various phone processes (PBX and/or Switchboard)
  • Working knowledge of computer systems
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
