Kingsley Plant Weave Support Associate
POSITION REPORTS TO:
Production Manager or PI over Weave Support Operators
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Milliken Kingsley Plant is a world class air-jet weaving operation in Thomson, Georgia. We weave fabric for end products such as duct tape, medical tape, uniforms, military, home furnishings, and industrial products.
The Weave Support Associate supports the Weave Department by ensuring efficient material movement between filling yarn storage, weave machine and inspection. The support associate works closely with the team to ensure filling yarn inventory on loom is maintained at optimum levels and cloth rolls are doffed at the optimum length. The Weave Support Associate typically works on a rotating 8-hour shift.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform doffs. (Properly identify cloth rolls, remove cloth rolls from loom, and take to appropriate area in inspection. Obtain correct ticket and match to roll.)
Clean weaving machines.
Perform pullovers and doffs
Doff Quality checks
Cut catchcord waste
Relief Weave
Maintain doff trucks
Haul filling yarn. (Properly identify, and verify filling yarn. Then allocate correct amount to loom per instructions.)
General housekeeping
Maintain equipment and anything else as instructed by management.
JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Should be self-directed to the point of working with little to no supervision.
Requires regular and predictable attendance on assigned rotating shift schedule.
Must be able to move around job for entire shift.
Knowledge of weave room policies and procedures.
Completing daily team maintenance (DTM) activities.
Auditing safety items in department.
SKILLS – REQUIRED

Must be able to accurately record and transfer information.
Must be able to grasp numbers quickly and accurately.
Must be able to safely operate Powered Vehicles, Filling Carts and safely move materials manually as needed.
MACHINES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Airjet weave machine (all types) Powered Doff Truck, Filling Cart, Overhead Hoist Wench, waste buggy, conveyors, compressed air hose Reed hook, leno hook, scissors, pouch, flashlight Draw graph, tickets Yarn, both dyed and greige fabric, Cloth rolls, Packages of filling yarn Cardboard tubes, metal tube weights, PC Computer/BARCO/printer Steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, LOTO equipment/goggles
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION Standing : Ability to stand while working. 90% of day Sitting : Ability to sit down for hour long communications meeting. 5% of day Moving : Must be able to move around a 316,000 sq. ft. weaving facility with concrete floors to get to supplies, equipment, and to perform elements of job. 90% of day Reaching/Lifting: Ability to reach from 8” to 24" into a filling case to grasp yarn package weighing between 8 and 25 pounds and transfer from filling cart to loom. To remove 25lb doff weights on some styles. 40% of day Climbing: Ability to step up and down off doff truck and weaving platforms which are 10" and 5" off the ground to doff and relief weave. 50% of day Pull/Reach: Reach 12” up to 48" to grasp a warp yarn end. Guide reed hook through heddle and reed, then pull warp yarn end through. 10% to 25% of day depending on set. Push: Ability to push filling cart using between 5 to 35lb force. Ability to use roller conveyors to move filling case from cart to loom filling bed. 30% of day Bending/Stooping: Ability to bend and stoop to clean weaving machines, pick up trash, catchcord, and filling dividers from the floor. Bend to place doff tubes on takeup on start new roll. 40% of day Walking: Ability to freely walk around and between weaving machines, doff truck, filling cart, and conveyors. Job must be patrolled constantly to clean machines, ensure filling supplied, and doff rolls. 70% of day Dexterity: Ability to tie proper knots for creeling & relief weaving. 10% of day Visual Acuity: Ability to read and understand tickets, lot cards, computer screen or any written instructions. Ability to detect mixed yam Ability to identify what is running, and properly match tickets. To see fine denier yarn to draw ends correctly through correct heddles and drop wires. 90% of day Respirator: Ability to wear N95 particulate respirator with valve and pass qualitative fit test. Work Environment : Ability to work in cotton dust environment. Meet cotton pulmonary function requirements. Must be able to hear power equipment operating in work area. Ability to work in high noise production environment, wear approved ear protection and Steel toe safety shoes. This job operates in a manufacturing facility. This role regularly works around moving mechanical parts and material handling equipment. 100% of day Work Environment : Ability to follow defined break schedule. Regular and predictable attendance on assigned rotating shift schedule. 100% of day Powered Vehicle Driver : Must have the ability to safely drive a powered vehicle. 40% of day Other : Must have ability to prioritize job functions to maximize production. SHIFT REQUIREMENTS:
Shift schedule will depend on open positions at time of hire. Weekends and holidays are scheduled depending on business demands. The Weave Support Operator typically works on a rotating 8-hour shift. 1st Shift: 8 AM – 4 PM 2nd Shift: 4 PM – 12 AM (Midnight) 3rd Shift: 12 AM (Midnight) - 8 AM
PAY CLASSIFICATION:
Support Operator
New Hires expected to work minimum of 90 days with 3rd party staffing agency prior to hiring onto Milliken. Up to $1000 Sign-On/Retention Bonus based on eligibility.
