The Streets Division is responsible for over 285 miles of roadway, including: the maintenance of more than 10,000 traffic signs and 90 signalized intersections, maintenance of 265 miles of lane markings, 186 electronic traffic control devices, and more.
The Traffic Control Unit is currently looking for a Full-time Streets Worker. Pay is based on relevant experience and/or education.

Hiring Range $16.77 - $20.06/hr (DOQ) -
14 days paid vacation + 10 sick days per year + 12 paid holidays

Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties
The Position
The current opening is on the Traffic Control crew. Main duties include sign preparation, installation and repair; street striping and painting of curbs, crosswalks, stop bars, arrow markings and parking lots; replacement and repair of street lights; traffic signal operations; debris and trash removal; weed eradication, inspections of contractor work; street sweeping, plowing and sanding; and traffic control.
This position operates construction and maintenance equipment such as aerial lift equipment, asphalt rake, asphalt roller, backhoe, bobcat, compressor, dump truck, front-end loader, GPS equipment, jack hammer,, pickaxe, road grader, sander, shovel, sign baking applicators, sign plotters,, sledge hammer, snowplow, street sweeper, striping machine (mobile and walk behind),, thermo torch, tractor, and various hand tools.
All Streets employees serve as part of the Snow Plow team by plowing snow and applying de-icer to streets.

Duties require a full range of physical motion to perform manual labor, including heavy lifting and digging, for extended periods of time under all weather conditions. Physical demands are described as heavy (exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 40 lbs. force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body).
Minimum Qualifications
Ideal Candidate

High school graduate (or equivalent)

Skilled in critical thinking and the ability to to problem solve

Experience as a laborer or snowplow driver to support maintenance of condition/snow and ice activities is preferred
-
Able and willing to work on-call duty which requires working weekends on a rotating basis and working all hours during emergency repairs as needed

Experience & Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment

Within six months of employment date, the successful candidate must obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s license Class B with air brake and tanker endorsement (must be maintained for continued employment)

The successful candidate must pass all pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes including interview, reference checks, and criminal background checks and pre-placement DOT physical and drug screen
