Job Description:
Design Engineer I is an entry level engineering position that provides design and analysis of engineering elements and applies engineering principals and standards for development of studies, designs and construction documents. Design Engineers I are expected to be able to operate CADD and analysis based programs for their technical discipline.
Functions likely to include:
- Prepare engineering design, studies and reports.
- Determine / reviews appropriate application of technical methods of the work and verify compliance with criteria.
- Participate / Reviews the development of engineering design details, specifications, contract drawings and estimates.
- Prepare construction contract documents including final design details, construction drawings, specifications and estimates.
- Participate in team meetings and presentations such as public meetings.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Engineering in Training (EIT) certification
- Computer Skills: Exposure to Microstation, Microstation Connect, ProjectWise, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office programs, HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, VISIO, SIDRA, VISSIM
- Excellent problem-solving, oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with local, state and federal engineering requirements, specifications and guidelines
- Monitors current trends/methodologies in traffic engineering
