Position Summary

Partners for Rural Impact (PRI) is a newly formed nonprofit organization that provides deep community support for youth and their families and works to ensure success for young people from cradle to career. PRI is seeking an experienced trainer to join the Curriculum and Instruction Team. We are looking for a Training Specialist to facilitate learning and practicing experiences. The goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner. The Training Specialist will report to the Associate Vice President of Curriculum and Instruction and will work directly with the project directors, instructional designers, other PRI staff, school districts, and key partners, to implement curricula that focus on cradle-to-career competencies, family engagement practices, and pre-K-12 educational frameworks. The Training Specialist will facilitate opportunities for partnership with schools and key grant partners to develop parent, LEA, SEA, CBO, and other training related to the Dual Capacity Framework, the NNPS (Epstein) model, and Parent Nation, Full-Service Community School Model, adult development and learning as well as other identified strategies to remove barriers and support student success along the cradle-to-career path. This position will integrate Results Based Facilitation and Accountability frameworks in partnership meetings, improvement strategies, and project design activities. The Training Specialist operates with the goal in mind that all rural students succeed.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Statewide Family Engagement Center (SFEC) goals and objectives, Full-Service Community School Model, and adult development and learning
  • Work with the project directors, other staff, school districts, and key partners, to ensure there are appropriate training experiences
  • Provide training related to the developed curricula, Parent Nation peer-to-peer leaders, LEAs (train-the-trainer), Full-Service Community School Model, adult development and learning, and statewide events
  • Provide resources and training to SFEC staff, school personnel, families and community partners related to evidence-based practices, evaluate activities for effectiveness and work with key partners to offer additional research-based programming
  • Work closely with state/local department of education, Regional Centers, schools, staff, partners/community-based organizations, and families to deliver framework-based trainings, help develop curriculum on parent engagement, educational choice, use of technology, and facilitate training sessions statewide
  • Ensure data from each training session is collected, disseminate results, and continually identify and share trends or patterns in school or parent trainings to drive policy development strategies
  • Work closely with the regional center staff, stakeholders and the project director to ensure program activities/services are informed by the feedback received from quantitative and qualitative data and collaborate with all CBOs to build the capacity of parents and educators
  • Perform other related duties

Position Location & Schedule

Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with in-office, hybrid and/or remote work possible. Because of the nature of the responsibility to schools, partners, funders, and to the service region, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening and/or weekend hours.


Minimum Qualifications

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Education, educational technology, Curriculum Development, etc.); Master’s preferred
  • Five years of experience providing training to educators and parents

Experience Required

  • Experience implementing, developing lesson plans, evaluation rubrics, and resource materials for adult learning cradle-to-career competencies, family engagement practices, community schools and pre-K-12 educational work
  • Experience with curriculum that supports elementary education, middle grades education, secondary and postsecondary education, family engagement, outreach/wrap-around services, national service models, and community school frameworks
  • Experience using interactive experiential learning strategies and adult development/leadership strategies in culturally diverse settings
  • A strong personal commitment to the mission of Partners for Rural Impact with the gravitas to influence the Partners for Rural Impact result that All Rural Students Succeed
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment working in and with rural communities.
  • Demonstrated success in a complex, fast-paced, high-performing organization, with the ability to prioritize projects and work cross-functionally
  • Able to multitask and work independently

  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of adult learning, cradle-to-career competencies, family engagement practices, community schools and pre-K-12 educational work
  • Knowledge of instructional theory, including assessment
  • Excellent facilitation, consensus-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Initiative, creativity, willingness to learn, and ability to juggle multiple tasks independently.
  • Highly self-motivated, professional and capable of managing workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, work as part of a team and coordinate events
  • Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills with impeccable multi-tasking abilities
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate complex information in a clear and effective manner
  • Friendly and professional demeanor

License, Certification, and/or Registration Required

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Complete background check, including internet presence and social media

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a high-energy office
  • Ability to accurately communicate and exchange information with partners, stakeholders, and/or meeting participants
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to travel independently by car and plane regionally and nationally
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle

Environmental Conditions

  • Work in a fast-paced setting with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
  • This position is eligible for remote work
  • Frequent travel to partner and program sites required in all seasons
  • Must be able to travel for team meetings
