There are two vacancies within the Public Works Department - Transit Division. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list to fill other openings without reposting. This assignment is in the community of Colusa.

DEFINITION

To operate a transit vehicle for the transporting of passengers throughout Colusa County; and to assist in the maintenance and care of the vehicles.

Supervision & Examples of Duties

Receives general supervision from the Transit Manager.

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES--Important responsibilities and duties may include, but arenot limited to, the following.

Drive a transit vehicle; transport passengers throughout Colusa County; assist patrons entering and exiting the vehicle including the elderly and handicapped with wheelchairs.

Communicate on a two-way radio from transit vehicle.

Total and record daily manifest of patrons.

May perform light maintenance and troubleshooting of vehicles and equipment as required.

Keep vehicles neat and clean.

Answer questions and provide information to the public.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

Operation of motor vehicles.

Motor vehicle laws relating to safe practices and operation of equipment.

Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations.

Basic mathematics.

Ability to:

Learn Colusa County roads and highways.

Drive a transit vehicle safely.

Communicate on a two-way radio.

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Experience and Training Guidelines

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be.

Experience:

No experience is required.

Training:

Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

License or Certificate

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate and valid Class 2 California Driver's License and Medical Certificate.
