POSITION SUMMARY:

The Transit and Multimodal Transportation Planning Lead is responsible for management of the city’s transit system including transit budget monitoring, transit and multimodal project development and management and maintaining relationships between the City the Roaring Fork Transit Authority (RFTA), the city’s Transportation Commission, citizens and vendors. Plans, develops and implements ideas for an ecological and sustainable multimodal transportation, transit and the in-town trails system for bikes and pedestrians. Manages the Bus Fund and the Transportation Demand Management program and related activities. Helps develop parking management plans, technologies, and regulations.

JOB LOCATION: City Hall, 101 8th Street, Glenwood Springs, CO

FLSASTATUS: Exempt

CATEGORY: Full-time

HOURS: 40 or more hours per week

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists in managing, planning, budgeting, and administering the funds for the local bus service, Ride Glenwood Springs.

2. Manages the Transportation Demand Management program and activities associated with the TDM program; makes suggestions on improvements that align with the Engineering Department.

3. Manages professional service contracts for transit and multi modal transportation studies.

4. Maintains and facilitates updates to the City’s existing and future transportation plans.

5. Acts as staff and City representative to the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority and any other commissions, business partnerships or agencies that interact with this position.

6. Develops projects and partnerships that support the City of Glenwood Springs’ Bicycle friendly

community status, Bike-to-Work Days, and bicycle education programs.

7. Works with Engineering to plan new parking areas or structures and manage parking inventory.

8. Plans and manages existing and new bicycle and pedestrian facilities and systems, including sidewalks, crosswalks, pedestrian signage, and bike racks.

9. Monitors and manages City bus system; including preparing and maintaining the budget for t h e bus tax fund, plan service changes, and expansion projects.

10. Plans bus stop and shelter improvements; collects data and prepares periodic reports.

11. Reviews and comments on impacts and mitigation measures for new development proposals in relation to the transit, pedestrian and bike systems.

12. Organizes public outreach for municipal transportation education, promotion and feedback; responds in a timely manner to inquires with a professional demeanor.

13. Researches and applies for grants and funding for City multimodal transportation and Ride Glenwood Springs projects.

14. Communicates frequently with other departments on transportation related issues.

15. Makes presentations to the City Council and other government agencies as needed.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS

Necessary:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Planning, or a related field with an emphasis in Transportation preferred.

· Experience in public transportation planning or engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for education requirements.

· Proficient in the MS Office Suite and/or GIS software systems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $66,581.00 - $79,897.00 per year
