Transportation Division - Lowboy Driver
Job description
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the safe loading and delivery of equipment, supplies, and materials to various locations.
REPORTS TO: Dispatcher
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs day-to-day deliveries of heavy equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Performs deliveries in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
- Perform the safe loading, unloading, and delivering of equipment, materials, or poles.
- Operate vehicles safely and in compliance with all traffic laws.
- Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires. Report irregularities to supervisor and/or shop supervisor.
- Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accomplishes all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED, and a minimum of one (1) prior driving experience required.
- Valid NYS CDL-A required.
- Tanker and hazmat endorsements a plus. Reimbursement for completion upon a passing test.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledgeable in operation of wide range of construction equipment.
- Knowledgeable and able to demonstrate proper load securement.
- NYSDOT and FMSCA regulations knowledge and compliance are essential.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Good decision-making ability.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ability to concentrate and maintain focus.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing demands.
