The Underwriter will be responsible for daily contact with agents, within the P&C marketplace, discussing risks negotiating on pricing, coverage, acceptability and providing or requesting information. This position will communicate with marketing representatives responding to inquiries regarding service, risk evaluation, questions on procedures, rates, premium evaluation, and service. (Hybrid opportunity, with 2-3 days onsite)**

Responsibilities:
  • Generating, underwriting and analyzing of accounts.
  • Risk selection by qualifying leads and identifying target market.
  • Communication with brokers for new and renewal business.
  • Pricing and issuance of multiples quotes with selected markets.
  • Development and maintenance of strong broker relationships including visitation.
  • Thorough documentation of underwriting file.
  • Monitors claims activity and reporting.
  • Work closely with Manager in negotiation and handling of larger accounts.
  • Preparation of thorough and succinct referral to supervisor or company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of commercial property & casualty underwriting experience
  • Prior experience in the social services/non-profit sector, preferred
  • Ability to develop and foster carrier and broker relationships
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Aptitude to negotiate, influence and close deals
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred
