Kett Engineering is looking for an experienced Automotive Vehicle Test Technician to work on an Autonomous Vehicle Program.
Job Summary and General Purpose of Position:
The Vehicle Test Technician conducts tests on assemblies and parts to ensure correct functionality according to specifications and document the findings, and should have a deep understanding of vehicle diagnostics, the customer platform, and electric/hybrid vehicles.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead vehicle builds in conversion process.
  • Troubleshoot and solve mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment.
  • Functional testing of assemblies under specified conditions.
  • Diagnose vehicle subsystem issues in response to trouble tickets.
  • Ensure that assemblies are built to specifications.
  • Verify parts used are correct to BOM and blueprints.
  • Monitor bay teams’ progress on builds.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with company policy.
  • Perform various additional duties assigned as needed.
  • Supervise the work of Conversion Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, and VTT - 1 in the conversion process.

Job Requirements

  • Three (3) plus years as vehicle technician or related field.
  • Must have mechanical and electrical background in automotive field. Diagnostic equipment and blue prints.
  • Experience using and troubleshooting Mac, iOS, and Linux operating systems is a plus.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification.
  • Capable of reading wiring schematics and drawings.
  • Experience with Crimped contacts both manual and automated tooling, cable testing tools, and digital multi-meters.
  • Physical Requirements- Must be able to sit in a vehicle for as many as 6 hours per day. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Job requires sitting, standing, and bending for approximately 6-8 hours on a daily basis. Must be flexible and able to perform numerous tasks as requested. Must be flexible to work overtime and hours above and beyond normal scheduled hours as needed. Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and, where applicable, a physical.

This role has graduating levels. Assigned or advancement level is dependent on overall work experience, education/degree, certifications, acquired deeper understanding of the role, the ability to train, mentor, and lead others; and meeting and/or exceeding customer expectations or needs.
Education- Bachelor’s degree preferred, Trade School, but may consider significant prior work experience in related field. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required at minimum.
