Summary: The purpose of Facilities Maintenance is to perform maintenance and general repairs to DPI’s interior and exterior facilities, warehouse and office areas. This includes minor construction, light bulb replacement, minor electrical and plumbing work, assembly and installation of aesthetic fixtures and décor, rack repair, dock door maintenance and repair and maintenance of air compressors. This position is also responsible for fire safety equipment inspection and monitoring filter replacement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance and repair to interior and exterior facilities, warehouse and office areas using various hand and air tools, including light bulb replacement, minor electrical and plumbing work, assembly and installation of aesthetic fixtures and décor, rack repair, and dock door maintenance.
• Interprets schematics, diagrams, blue prints, technical handouts and drawings to understand equipment operation and specifications.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and plan solutions and steps for performance of maintenance and repair on all equipment.
• Receive and follow work orders for performance of preventive maintenance schedules and daily work activities.
• Apply knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems to maintain systems and perform minor repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance on air compressor systems, including replacing filters.
• Perform minor construction, maintenance and repair to the building structure (interior and exterior) including painting, dry wall and concrete work.
• Identify repairs or maintenance that will require outside contractor services.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• May perform warehouse and inside sanitation duties as needed.
• Maintain clean work environment, which may include picking up trash or cleaning spills.
• Other duties may be assigned to fulfill DPI’s objectives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The employee must be proficient in verbal and written English and basic math skills. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. The employee must have 1 year maintenance experience, 2 years preferred. Experience as a certified powered industrial truck (PIT) operator is preferred, and employee must be able to be certified for PIT operation by DPI within 90 days of hire.

Work Environment: The work environment is typically indoors. The employee on occasion will perform outside work and would be exposed to local weather conditions. The floors may be concrete in the warehouse, vinyl or carpet on the interior and cement or asphalt outside the facility.

Work Hours: The work schedule is either 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, or 4 days a week, 10 hours a day. Start times vary. Work hours and shifts are subject to change depending on operating business conditions and needs. The employee may be required to work overtime, holidays or weekends.

Physical and Mental Demands: Medium- Heavy. Exerts 50 to 70 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 to 50 pounds of force frequently. This job also requires frequent standing and walking. Constant use of the upper extremities is required to reach, grasp, handle and use, tools, parts, equipment and machinery. The employee must know and follow proper safety protocols, DPI grooming, hygiene and dress code requirements; know and apply principles and protocols for plumbing, electricity and air compression systems to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs; know how to read and interpret schematics, blue prints, drawings, instructions and diagrams; has the ability and knowledge to troubleshoot diagnose and plan solutions for equipment and structure repair.
