Department Profile:

The Department of Water Works is responsbile for the City water and wastewater systems, including the water and wastewater treatment facilities. The Department has two Dvisions, Water and Wastewater, with a total staff of 50 professionals. The Department is responsible for: the treatment and reliable delivery of potable water to City homes and businesses. Storage of water and maintence of a network of piping, valves and hydrant for fire protection. Collection of wastewater and conveyance to a state of the art treatment facility to protect the public.

Position Profile:

All phases of operations and maintenance of two water treatment plants, all wells, outbuildings and water towers. Treatment processes include pressure sand filters, aeration, pH control, corrosion control, fluoridation and disinfection. We will train the right individual. Preferred Education:

High School Diploma or GED Required.

Preferred Experience:

MD Class IV Water Plant Operator Certification is preferred, but must obtain within three years.

Requirements/Certifications:

Valid driver’s license. Ability to handle emergencies. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work shift-work. Will need to provide a certified copy of driving record if offered the position.
